John Wall looked ridiculous in that suit and Niki should of performed at the BET awards instead.

Just turned it on, I'm confused why Draymond looks like it's 90 degrees outside and drake looks like it's just another cold Canadian winter ay.

No love for coach Billy Donovan?!?! And he's in attendance too waiting to be called up like the OKC players are :laugh2:

I'm obviously biased but you have a heart of stone if you didn't vote IT for best playoff moment. That man dropped 53 on his late sisters birthday and after the game said that he can put it aside on the court but then the game ends and it hits him that she's never coming back. I cried typing that.

Yea, I must've missed it. Saw Donovan in the crowd though and never heard him be called. I was also waiting for RWB to call him up there like he did with his teammates. lmao.

saric got robbed... nothing unusual though. Bucks made the playoffs... They said saric was better but the bucks made the playoffs so brog deserved it... ALRIGHT THEN.

I really like the award show. I enjoy everything basketball and this was something I could show my family and they could also enjoy. I thought it was a success.

By the way, I feel like with watching this happen after the Finals, it seems that we reward too much on how people perform to their expectations.

How did Draymond with DPOY? I didn't see anyone here recommending such. It was always Kawhi or Gobert.

NBA should be embarrassed that Brogdon is statistically the worse ROY ever.

This show would have been interesting about ehm... a month n a half ago when the season ended... it just feels so long ago

and the fact that like the 2 teams who played for a title didnt have the mvp or coach of the year kinda makes these awards seem further away from the season than they should be

Well he lead all rookies with assists and steals and playoffs. Yeah if he was the main guy he would of poured in more points to pad some stats. Saric padded his ppg with a lottery team. Saric only averaged 2 more ppg then Brogdon. The league figured that out when MCW got rookie of the year. Also its a feel good story that staying in school helps to be prepared and ready for NBA for a second round pick. Also Brogdon was only rookie this season to get a triple double. Also Brogdon 3pt% was 40.02% which is excellent for a rookie.

Making the playoffs is a ******** reason to say A guy is ROY.

Major respect earned by Westbrook tonight. I honestly was tearing up throughout his speech to family. I really didn't expect that from him.

Brogdon was the right choice in a weak rookie class.

No, time won't tell. ROY isn't an award for which rookie is going to be the best long term player. It's who had the best season. It's very possible that in 5 years we look back to redraft this class and Brogdon isn't even a top 20 pick. That doesn't mean he wasn't deserving. He was at or near the top in rookies for almost all categories outside of rebounding and blocks. He played very efficiently, and the numbers he put up were on a winning team. Saric came on strong late in the season, and outsiders Brogdon. But his numbers were put up on a losing team and weren't significantly better than brogdons if you look at the season as a whole.

I wouldn't have an issue if saric won, but I do think Brogdon was the correct choice. That doesn't mean he's the best player, but he probably had the best year of you look at everything. Saric had Brogdon in scoring and rebounding. Brogdon had saric in assists, steals and overall efficiency. The stats were close as a whole and one of them put up his numbers on a playoff team. That should probably basically be the tie breaker in my mind.

Because he and Kawhi are the two best defenders in the NBA and Kawhi won back to back

Time already told haha

ROY is a one season thing. I thought Saric was going to get it because he was great to end the year. But on a season-wide sample size Brogden has better numbers so I think it's a fair choice.

Maybe Joel can play more than 30 percent of the season?

More about Saric than Joel.

Also 31/82 is 37.8% ;)

IIRC Brogdon was also the 3rd oldest rookie to ever win.

Giannis joins Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players with an All-NBA and All-Defensive selection by age 22

Nice company.

Nice company.

Dependent on Robinson and Elgin Baylors month/days yes. (All three are 24)

IIRC Brogdon is the first primarily bench rookies to win ROY in a while (only started 28 games). By comparison Saric started 36, Embiid started 31.

Brogdons MPG is the least MPG of a ROY winner too. 22nd least number of games appeared in.

Imagine if saric had the greek freak next to him all year? Saric was the better player with less help while teams focused on him once our guys went down.. Nobody even realized brog was on the floor when they came in to game plan for the bucks.

MILLERHIGHLIFE

Saric only averaged like 2 points more per game over Brogdon. That's a bit weak when Embiid got injured after like 33 games. Noel dealt. Okafor on trade block. Chucker Bayless was injured pretty much as soon as his contract dried. Saric on a lottery team could of stuff his stats easily. Also Bucks just gave that big 4 year deal to Delly.

Brogdon had to put in work to show Kidd he was worthy of starting. Delly got injured and missed a couple games and Brogdon got a triple double right away. Also we had Giannis and Parker and Moose and Beasley and plenty of others in pecking order for touches way before Brogdon got his. Also we had to trade MCW for Snell.

So in order to win rookie of the year, you have to be the focus of the opponents game plan?
