1st team

G - CP3, Pat Beverly
F - Draymond, Kawhi
C - Gobert

2nd team

G - Tony Allen, Danny Green
F - Greek Freak, Andre Roberson
C - Anthony Davis

Avery Bradley and Klay got more votes than Giannis but missed out because of the position break-ups. Personally I'd put those two above Allen and Green on the 2nd team at guard.

Isaiah Thomas getting a second place vote is crazy lol. From now on his defense should be respected as such in this forum.

Overall, guard defenses wasn't very good this year IMO.

I thought Tucker would get selected. Didn't see his impact with the Suns but the Raptors were a different team defensively when he was on the court. One of the best one on one defenders I've seen.

Guess we now know who the short voter out of the bunch was. Still one of the worst defenders in the game.

All the selections are fine. Maybe you could put Avery or Klay ahead of Tony Allen (who is still a good defender but not all All-Defense good), but it's solid nonetheless.

Marcus Smart being so low on the votes list is ridiculous

Honestly I don't think he's half bad other than defending post-ups. Someone with any post game on him (either the PG or someone else in a switch) and he's a fish out of water. But other than that I don't think he's nearly as bad as people say. His effort on that end is good and he plays within the team concept. The height is just a physical limitation he can't overcome in certain situations.

Didn't watch much of CP3 this year. Is he really that much better of a defender than Klay and Avery Bradley? I think Bradley should've definitely been on one of the two teams.

I did not know Tony Allen was still playing at a 2nd team tier defense level. What a nice career he's had: 3x 1st team D, 3x 2nd team D, champion.

Danny Green finally being recognized for his defensive abilities.

Yeah, I've always been a Green fan. Glad to see he made the team.

I'd love to see who's voting. They should make them public. I don't agree with some of votes some players got.

Steph shouldn't be considered. Sorry.

Oh okay. They don't in the NHL when it comes to voting, so I figured they didn't in the NBA.

In the past... yes. This year... no. But he will keep getting first team / second team votes.

Nice to see Rock Covington get some love from the voters. His defense alone kept him on the team.

Klay didn't get snubbed for anyone who said that. He was great in playoffs. Good in regular season. Bradley was snubbed. Should have been 1st team.

Davis didn't deserve it either. Weak side blocks get too much credit while help defense means both to the voters. And yes weak side blocks are help but very little in terms of defensive help and rotation. Gasol is a much better defender.

Davis is the most over-rated defender in the nba. I also agree with your Gasol assessment.

I see, he's basically getting the Kobe treatment toward the end of his career.

Is Tony Allen getting on there based on rep? I heard a lot of people saying he hasn't been as good the last couple of years.

I don't think Klay Thompson was snubbed at all. He is a plus defender but Danny Green is the better defender. Even though he was deserving, I am still a little surprised they gave him the respect he deserves.

No. CP3 is getting by on rep and his ability to grab and hold without refs noticing.

CP3, Allen, Giannis, AD should not have made the teams.

There are a few glaring weaknesses in this year's team, such as Bradley not making the second team, but the real head-scratchers seem to be in the individual voting.
Who didn't give Draymond a vote for the first team? You know that perceived snub is going to drive him all next season.
And who decided Isaiah and Lillard deserved a vote? They got as many as Hill, Mbah a Moute, Ibaka and Adams.

Robert Covington was 4th in DPOY but couldn't make an all-defensive team [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Yeah count me out of the cp3 bashing, this ain't late 2k Kobe here. Dude is legitimately that important to our defense. Subtle nuances become glaring when he's replaced by even decent defenders like Austin

Same thing as Shawn Marion years ago. 4th in DPOY voting and didn't make an all defensive team. It's still weird to me he never made at least ONE all NBA defensive team

This accolade is still not perfect. We have come a long way in objectively analyzing individual defense, but still have ways to go.

this is why i think its idiotic when he doesnt count as our core... he is legit a monster.... on top of that people think he doesnt deserve 18 mill a year... I am not letting cov go... he is the valuable D and 3 guy but his defense is just so underrated even now.
