I think we take Games 1-2. Game 3 50/50

Eh, I just don't know any more. I liked the matchups in the last series and that didn't turn out too well. It's getting frustrating.

In anticipation of tomorrow's deluge, Rays-RedSox game moved from 7:10 to 1:05.

The bats need to start waking up. 1 hit through 5 not going to help you win games.

Honestly, just keep starting Marrero at 3B. We need defense there. Rutledge/Hernandez made way too many errors and they always seemed to hurt us big time. I know Marrero can't hit much but he's not that much worse than Rutledge.

Pomeranz exits with left triceps tightness. That happened to him in Spring Training also.

Anderson Espinoza has not thrown a pitch this season due to inflammation in his right elbow. He was shut down indefinitely in late April.

Honestly, just fire Farrell. This team is uninspired. I know you can't nearly place all the blame on him but something has to change. The only real question is who's the replacement?

Hindsight...

As with all Dombrowski trades, he sold high and bought high. You obviously didn't understand why I continue to post the same thing everytime Pomeranz pitches. Wasn't a fan of the deal, and I hate it even more now.

I wasn't a fan either AI. I'm with you. Kid had potential. I would like to say I enjoy Sale but the 2 players that I thought were untouchable were touchable. Now we have no farm system

Funny thing is...

Bite the bullet on a closer ($$$) instead of trading for one, nix the Pomeranz deal, and you still have the pieces to make that Sale trade this offseason. White Sox loved JBJ so having Margot still in the system means Jackie could highlight the package along with Espinoza, Basabe, Allen and filler. You still have Moncada, Kopech and Devers in the system... all is well.

And we somehow continue to employ Farrell when Lovullo was clearly the much better choice. This franchise, hate to say it, continues to make the wrong hires.

This is how I feel as well. I don't believe he will be fired though. I think we will play .500 baseball which saves his job. Not that it should save his job. We need a new voice. The marathon bombing inspired this team, not Farrell the year we won it all. Winning for Ortiz is what inspired them last year. Not John Farrell.

For me and I'm sure others will disagree. The manager I would like is the in Cleveland. I really like Tito. I was angry when the FO once again screwed up and didn't renew his contract and bolted for Cleveland. We need a manger that's tough. Not going to leave SP in when they are giving up bombs. The lineup could use another tweek BP as well. JF is just way to soft and no sense of urgency

Right now I would say Butterfield would be the most likely to take over. I was reading about some kind of award that he created -- Red Sox culture or something like that -- and it's got the right spirit about it. It's all about noticing the plays and actions that don't impact the box score but make for championship baseball.

Not picking on you here SF85 but I've seen several people respond about the Espinoza trade along these lines -- that he has not pitched this year. I don't quite understand the responses. Could you explain?

I honestly do not think that anyone who disliked the deal thought that he would make an impact on the roster this year... or probably any time before 2019. Even with a set back like this, if he'd hit MLB in 2020 then he would be only 22. The importance of that, IMO, is that he arrives when all the big names in the rotation could be leaving. If you deal him before that, then do it for the key piece that puts you over the top. Pomeranz definitely was not that.

Just putting on my clean pink hat for a sec.

Rick Porcello and Chris Sale have won starts on the same turn through the rotation only once in 8 tries.
The Sox high water mark for the season came on April 20, when they went 4 games over .500 for the only time this season.
