Well obviously whoever makes it to the 2016-17 NBA Finals this season should play in the annual Christmas game next year but the teams that I would nominate to change things up would be:

Boston Celtics vs Los Angeles Lakers (rivalry game)

Brooklyn Nets vs Toronto Raptors (rivalry game)

Chicago Bulls vs Detroit Pistons (rivalry game)

New York Knicks vs Indiana Pacers

I know 99% of people will snort at one of these but:
Cavs vs Warriors
Knicks vs Celtics
Blazers vs Clips
Wolves vs Sixers

That last one, if Simmons and Embiid are healthy, could spark a rivalry of Dunn/Wiggins/Towns vs Embiid/Simmons/young PG we draft. The Sixers V Lakers being prime time this year shows the NBA is willing to push a young star matchup.

Casual fans aren't going to spend their Christmas watching teams like Indiana, Brooklyn, or Detroit. They just won't.

It's usually the same type of schedule each year. Both LA teams are always going play seemingly. The Finals rematch. A couple of elite teams (small market), then big market teams like NY and Chi.

Simply put, they want to schedule games that people will watch.

The Raptors deserve to play on Christmas. They have been one of the best teams in the NBA the last three yrs record wise.

1. Warriors @ Clippers (two most exciting teams featuring four of the top ten players in the league)
2. Cavaliers @ Knicks (LeBron v Carmelo)
3. Spurs @ Bulls (Leonard v Butler)
4. Rockets @ Mavericks (Probable 2016-17 MVP Harden)
5. Wizards @ Raptors (Two of the best backcourts in the NBA)
