Now recently we all know Rose was traded this past off season from Chicago and tho it ended badly the beginning was amazing with him and he was an impact on the city and franchise is a big big way after the Jordan years . ROTY , 3 time All star the 2nd and youngest MVP in Bulls / NBA history and the hometown kid . Injuries robbed him of what was once was and then came the foolish stuff he said soured some but can't deny the impact he did have .

MCW was traded for over the weekend and it came out he and was reported to wear the number 1 jersey and the backlash from the city was real all over twitter and MCW 's instagram . He tweeted out that the jersey number thing wasn't final till that night he ultimately changed it to 7 .

This isn't the first time this type of thing happen in the NBA , 2013 the blazers got a hold of Mo Williams and at the press he was holding up a number 7 jersey and Portland REACTED . Mo changed his number to 25 by getting it from earl watson . Till this day nobody in Portland to my knowledge has worn that number and Portland never indicated they would retire it .

Obvious jersey numbers do have a impact on players or you wouldn't see them either wear the same number their whole career or give thousands to someone to wear it .

What I'm asking is this overblown ? Was rose impact not justified or was it too soon and the FO should have waited a year or two ? Is their a player on your team that had a great impact on your city currently that down the road when gone you can't see wearing it right away the day they're gone ?
