This year, GMs sent private bids for the top players in the game, then used a draft and free agency to fill out their roster. Assume full health when voting. Which team below wins in a 7-game series?

1. Boca
PG: Eric Bledsoe/Patty Mills
SG: Avery Bradley/Evan Turner
SF: Kevin Durant/Jerami Grant
PF: Amir Johnson/Myles Turner
C: Jonas Valanciunas/Kelly Olynyk

9. Seaside
PG: Victor Oladipo | Ish Smith
SG: Klay Thompson | Alec Burks
SF: Tyreke Evans | Andre Roberson
PF: Kenneth Faried | Meyers Leonard
C: DeMarcus Cousins | Al Jefferson

From a sheer talent standpoint, Seaside actually makes this an interesting matchup. But it doesn't seem like a ton of thought was put into the actual fit of the players on that roster, like Oladipo at PG or the lack of legitimate front court defense. I'm going Boca here.

It is funny bc I voted against Seaside in round 1 but I am leaning toward them here. This Boca team is soft and Seaside has the firepower to make this a tough series. Would love to hear arguments.

Boca is a traditionally well built team.
Seaside is an oddly built team, but very talented.

I am going with Seaside.

When I first saw the KoB post I was already down 9-1, which is why I didn't re-arrange my weekend to type up a long argument for my victory.

My argument would have been:

1. Cousins crushes Valan in head to head matchups:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&hint=DeMarcus+Cousins&player_id1_select=DeMarcus+Cousins&player_id1=couside01&hint=Jonas+Valanciunas&player_id2_select=Jonas+Valanciunas&player_id2=valanjo01

And he can't say he'd have Amir Johnson guard Cousins instead because he dominates him too:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&hint=DeMarcus+Cousins&player_id1_select=DeMarcus+Cousins&player_id1=couside01&hint=Amir+Johnson&player_id2_select=Amir+Johnson&player_id2=johnsam01

And he can't say he'd have Myles Turner guard Cousins because in their one matchup last season, Cousins scored 48 on Myles:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&hint=DeMarcus+Cousins&player_id1_select=DeMarcus+Cousins&player_id1=couside01&hint=Myles+Turner&player_id2_select=Myles+Turner&player_id2=turnemy01

So he has no one to stop Cousins. Not only that but none of his bigs are very good at rim protection. Amir Johnson is the best but he's not elite:

http://nyloncalculus.com/stats/rim-protection/

Jonas allowed 52.2% at the rim
Myles Turner allowed 50.8% at the rim
Amir Johnson allowed 47.3% at the rim

So he has a choice, either guard Cousins with Jonas, get torched and allow Amir to protect the rim, or he can guard Cousins with Amir and have Jonas get torched protecting the rim. Neither option is very appealing.

KD shot pretty horribly against GS in the WCF (41% FG and 29% 3PT) and Klay did a fairly good job on him during the series.

I think my team has more firepower offensively between Klay, Cousins, Oladipo and Evans and his inability to stop Cousins down low would be the deciding factor in this series.

If I had seen those I would've voted for you valade, as it stands though Boca has advanced

Good to know but I would have still gotten whooped.

Congrats to Baller on advancing.

Great post. I would also like to vote for expired Seaside team. What is dead may never die.

Disrespect to Boogie's defense

But yea, Klay-Boogie is a sweet duo, but Valade screwed up the rest of the team.
