View Full Version : Noah and the Cadets

Why?

Why do people want to enjoy this country yet constantly misunderstand the work and sacrifice it takes to maintain its freedom?

NFL players not wanting to stand and honor the flag.

2 absolute dishonest morons running for President

Now we dishonor those whose job it is to protect us.

I am not a doomsday type, but if you don't see where we are headed in this country, you are blind. We are divided now worse than ever before, yet our diversity used to be our strength.

You couldn't just eat dinner with the Cadets and make their day. It once again had to be about something else.

He says he respects the troops and loves the country but is anti war because he hates seeing "kids killing kids".

I fail to see why his opinion and decision to not participate in a military dinner because of his personal views on war is a problem. Ny media stirring up nothing.

Why do people not understand it's every American's right to protest? It's kind of the foundation of our country.

And there's only one moron running for president. The guy with more reality TV experience than political experience. Please don't lump them together.

It is every Americans right to protest. I agree 100%.

The issue here is how they are protesting, and when.

If I drive a Pepsi truck, is it ethical to spend my lunch breaks holding a picket sign telling people I hate Pepsi?
I have a RIGHT to do that, but how long would Pepsi continue to cut me a paycheck?

NBA, NFL, and MLB players are employees of the brand they sign with. If I play professional Basketball in Italy, and attend anti-Italian protests, I am killing the brand that pays me.

Having the right to do anything in this country starts with the protection of a military that ensures that right. Like punching your parents in the face, but still expecting the benefits of room and board.

If Noah wants to protest volunteer recruits of the USA, why not explain that before the team arrives at WEST POINT to train for an NBA season, then embarrass the entire organization by his anti-army stance that has nothing to do with killing anyone?

New Yorkers want to embrace this player, like they did Oakley, and Mason. He is getting paid an incredible amount of money to represent the NYK organization.

This was not the time to protest.

ManningToTyree
09-30-2016, 05:23 PM
I don't think the majority of Knicks fans will embrace him any less for standing up for his beliefs. And again, in no way was he disrespectful about it. Much ado about nothing IMO.

He literally said he isn't anti-troops and has great respect for them just disagrees with the premise of violence. It's disrespectful to be a pacifist now?

If you don't see the lifelong history of lies and deceit from Hillary, then you just proved Mitt Romney was 100% right. 47% of people in this nation will vote one way no matter what their candidate does. You are the blinded. She is a joke, and so is He. There is no choice. The whole election is a joke. If he was gonna protest the "big picture" with regards to war and not the troops, he should have done it another way rather than blowing off the young cadets. I respect his stance, don't necessarily agree with the premise but I can't fault someone for being anti war and against sending 18 year olds overseas to kill other 18 year olds, many of which don't fully understand the nuances of what and who they are fighting for. But he is telling everyone how concerned he is about those very kids he is just blowing off.

NOt really sure what you're getting at with that first part ...

Yes, the system is flawed, but in this election you have one candidate who has done some bad things as well as a lot of good things. Then you have another candidate who has literally never done one good thing in his life.

Oh, I'm getting this, don't you fret. My entire family is filled with Air Force, Army, and USMC active and Veterans. They were not drafted, they signed up and served this country honorably. I have spent many a night unable to sleep with worry about their safety, and wether they were still alive.

"It's hard for me a little bit. I have a lot of respect for the kids who are out here fighting. But it's hard for me to understand why we have to go to war, why kids have to kill kids around the world," Noah said after Friday's practice. "So I have mixed feelings about being here. I'm very proud of this country. I love America but I just don't understand kids killing kids around the world."

Noah added: "At the end of the day, I'm not anti-troops. It's just not comfortable for me to see kids going out to war and coming back having seen what they've seen, having done what they've done. It's sad for me. It's sad for me because they're just sent out for things that I don't really want to get into it to be honest with you. It's hard for me."

Him not being in favor of war doesn't mean he doesn't respect the sacrifice of the troops.

Very well written. Here is my issue, the only people losing out in his personal protest are the cadets who were so excited to sit and eat with the NYK. He is punishing these same kids that he say's he loves. That is like the USO refusing to do a show because someone got killed defending this nation.

Sounds like he just thought of the shittiest excuse to skip a dinner.

The premise of this protest, while it is his right, is a joke. Jo was and is my absolutely favorite player since he came into the league, but this is just plain stupid. I love the troops, but I'm not going to show up to a benefit win them. Maybe Jo you should donate every penny of your contract so somehow miraculously no country will ever go to war again.

The world is programmed to think the people of the Earth must be at war. Noah is from the Caribbean i think and most people in caribbean dont believe in war. Being small its Impossible for them to war with anyone so i can see why they are not caught up in it like the bigger land masses who fight for power and control. If you dont agree with him no big deal. Thats what makes the world so special everyone dont see or do the same things. If we all did guess what. Why cant you understand and respect that. If everyone was pro war we will all be dead. When you say enjoy American freedom exactly what does that mean? Are we free and other countries captured? What do you mean defending this Nation? What are we fighting for Freedom?

Exactly they are not the real people that put their lives in danger. They use the poorer population to form the troops that goes to war. So what would be the difference between them and Noah?

So I guess we lump "bad experience" in with "good experience" when talking about "experience"? GTFO, both candidates are utter garbage.

It's sad when the clear-cut most trustworthy candidate is a socialist democrat... but your hero (Hillary) and the DNC had to collude to beat him. Even at that, it was a much closer race than anticipated.

Noah was born in New York City. He holds American, Swedish, and French citizenship. He moved to Paris when he was 3 and lived there from '88-'98. Then he moved back to New York.

Also, i'm not sure why this thread is in the NBA forum. If it becomes any close to being disrespectful or problematic I will close it or move it to its proper subforum.

Joakim Noah has the First Amendment to protest how he wants. It doesn't mean he or a guy like Colin Kaepernick hate America or the troops.
Hillary Clinton's not the favorite choice. But anyone trying to make her comparable to Donald Trump is delusional.

Most people are just a puppet on a string they really dont know what they think they know. They only do what they have been thought. Noah has a right to ask why when he dont understand the reason why kids accross the world fight. Most of us dont know why we do things we just do it. Most dont know and understand why kids across the world fight they just follow. Many will call Noah stupid for what he did but is he the ignorant one? do he have a legit question? Why do kids around the world fight?

Sigh, once again I have to explain this. Freedom of speech, freedom to protest, prevent the GOVERNMENT from punishing you for expressing your beliefs. The Knicks or the NBA could choose to discipline or dismiss him if they see fit, as he is an employed representative of their company. It's the same reason Kobe was fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for using a gay slur on live television. Your analogy is not equivalent.

The Knicks, the NBA are not disciplining him, so they're fine with it. If they chose to, that's between them and the players association.

Are you seriously trying to compare conspiracy theories about the illuminati with people who think many of America's wars are useless? It doesn't take a conspiracy theorist to tell you how meaningless the Iraq war was, and what a negative effect it had on Americans, Iraqis and really all Muslims. Also, Bernie Sanders galvanized way more pacifists politically this year than Ron Paul ever has.

Same thing wrong with psd and its handlers on here who always shut down topics/threads because it exposes the truth

this thread needs to be closed as well because what happened to freedom of speech?

like I have said prior if you are protecting me I don't need you a gazillion miles away in other territories, I need you on the borders of the country and state/cities protecting me, not some where else looking for the boogey man in his closet that doesn't even exist to be quite frank

if the Cadets needed Noah to be there to make their day then that is like a little kid mad because someone has to eat school lunch while some other kids bring homemade lunch, so petty

also the song about the flag was written by a drunk
just like the song 'Amazing Grace' was written by a slave trader

People need to educate themselves before speaking on these non important topics
