If you were starting a team from scratch, which player would you favor and why?

Russell shouldn't be a choice here... I'd take Wilt.

Shaq. The worst team he's been on was his rookie year and they went 41-41 that year

Why doesn't Moses ever get any love

This is easy for me. Shaq

Side note, I'd take Drob easily over Russell or Moses. Russell was pretty whack offensively and Moses was pretty whack defensively. David was a beast on both ends. I always stick to my guns. If he had played with the sourrounding talent that these other guys had, he would of been in the GOAT conversation due to success and stats.

I think since none of us have seen kareem, wilt, and russell besides youtube clips its pretty unfair to actually compare them. here are their career achievements

Kareem
6x time champion, 19x all star, 15x all nba, 11x all defense, 6x MVP, 2x finals MVP

Wilt
2x time champion, 13x all star, 10x all nba, 2x all defense, 4x MVP, 1x finals MVP

Shaq
4x time champion, 15x all star, 14x all nba, 3x all defense, 1x MVP, 3x finals MVP

Hakeem olajuwon
2x time champion, 12x all star, 12x all nba, 9x all defense, 1x MVP, 2x finals MVP

Bill Russell
11x time champion, 12x all star, 11x all nba, 1x all defense*, 5x MVP, 0x* finals MVP

*note that all defense and finals MVP didn't start till 68-69 or the year he retired so its not a fair stat to compare for him

I think I would be the lone wolf here that picks kareem. I think he represents the best combination of offense and defense.

Yeah but Kareem won the majority of his rings way past his prime so it's completely different. He would be stuck with one ring if not for Magic. Then what would we be saying about his career? Magic added a few years to KAJ's career.

shaq or hakeem for me.

Ones pure dominance, they other is pure skill for a big man.

yeah he didn't win very many in Milwaukee, but he was drafted by a team that was only in its 2nd season of existence and he instantly made them a very good team. I just think he offers the best offensive and defensive package out of the 5 guys.

Russell shouldn't be a choice here... I'd take Wilt.

They had similar impacts tho, the only reason its harder to buy Russ is because defense has always been harder to quantify and hes had series where hes outplayed Wilt. Is it more about how transferable their games are to other eras?

I'll go Kareem here, I think his game fits better today than the others, and since you said start from scratch without definition of an era I'm going with right now. It's more and more difficult for the big bodied players to play in this league and Kareem from what I remember didn't smash people the way Shaq did or I expect wilt did either. Hakeem probably comes in 2nd for me the. Shaq, Wilt, Russell in that order.
