Risky here. Knee issues. On paper squad looks good

Free agent Chandler Parsons is nearing agreement on a four-year, $94M max deal with the Memphis Grizzlies, league sources tell @The Vertical.

94 divided by 4 is not 30 lol

Thought MEM would rebuild. Guess not. Probably feeling confident they can re-sign Conley.

Isn't 94M from any team that's not Dallas Parson's max?

Parsons and Gasol coming back will be nice boosts for them next season.

I don't like this, and I'm a Parsons fan. Two knee surgeries, specifically the microfracture in 2015 is worrisome. Last year's was a season ending one too.

Interesting. Also shocked he didn't pick Portland. In a way Portland dodges a risky bullet and gets to keep Crabbe for cheaper

Portland signed Turner for 4/75

I assume this means Conley is coming back. That's two guys with some injury concern but huge upside for that roster on paper.

BOS has MEM's unprotected 2019 pick so it could work out nice for us with Gasol aging and Conley/Parsons having some injury concerns long-term. But that roster on paper could play great together and go the other way too.

When will the owners lockout the players? I know it's coming

Justin Timberlake has a great agent.

Thank you Memphis!!

In 2017 both sides have an option to opt out of the CBA. Most likely a lockout.

I hate it for Memphis at this price. Even if it pans out, it's slightly an overpay. Parsons is a 15-5-3 guy who is a huge injury risk. But I get why Memphis did it -- Portland was offering similar contract numbers. Still though. I hope Conley returns and Gasol is healthy. Otherwise, this may be an albatross.

Parsons has been in the league 5 years, so his max falls under the 0-6 years which is only 25% of the cap vs 7-9 years which is 30% of the cap and lastly 10+ years is 35% of the cap.

This is definitely the max for Parsons.

With his knee history Memphis better have a early opt out.....otherwise they done lost their minds!

You've been saying that in every thread. There will be no lockout, if anything there will be a strike so players can get a bigger percentage of the pie. Last time, the owners pretended they were losing money. There's no way they can say that now.

If he can stay healthy then he could be a huge boost to Memphis' offense. He has that outside shot that they need.

If Marc can convince Pau to sign with them, and they bring back Conley, watch out.

He is a solid player. Its crazy how contracts are getting thrown out there. Parsons is getting a max and a dude like Delladova is getting paid 38mil. Let that sink in 38mil for a guy that you probably know a guy at your gym that could hang with Delladova.

They need another 3&D guy also, I am tired of them not being able to spears the floor; year after year.

I can't really disagree on the signing, they want more offense.

That's just disrespectful. He's in the NBA for a reason. The guy in the bench is better than 99.999% of any guy playing basketball at the gym...

Brian Scalabrine did a challenge in Boston a while back where he agreed to play anyone and he absolutely wiped the floor with all of them :laugh2: There were only a couple guys who could evens core a point on him.

This. Some people need to understand that a max is not a blanket amount for everyone. It depends on how long you have been in the league, how long you have played for your current team (if re-signing with them), etc.

Those were several streetball guys and a couple of college players. So no they were not noobs.

This is really common in MMA. You watch a guy dominate multiple fights in a row and think, "This guy could wipe the floor with the champion." Then they go against a Damien Maia and get schooled. You can't tell how good someone is when they're going against lesser competition. Or, as I've been saying about Thon Maker, "Everybody looks good in a highlight reel."
