Price couldn't make it two innings, and we still win. Sure need more hitting, and not pitching...right?

FWIW, the argument has never been offense vs pitching. It's been "sell whatever necessary to buy a TOTR" vs "carefully buy a mid-rotation arm and a bat". Why?

June splits for the end of the lineup

HanRam: .200/.285/.350
JBJ: .224/.350/.522
Shaw: .224/.303/.284
Vazquez: .182/.217/.227

As invigorating as the pair of back-to-back, last at bat, 8-7 victories have been, I hope that you can see the whole context. Were it not for a .221/.294/.273 lifetime hitter (Leon) they would not have been in position to even get those wins. The offense has dropped off dramatically. A big part of it has been the Sox' BABIP dropping back to more typical numbers (.340 and .342 for the first two months, it's back down to .309 this month) with their SLG taking an enormous hit as well. A factor is that beyond Leon, the bench, of late, has featured

Marco Hernandez: .231/.333/.385
Ryan LaMarre: .074/.107/.074
Deven Marrero: .217/.254/.267
Rusney Castillo: .262/.301/.379

Holt has been a first half player during his career but his numbers this season match his career second-half performance. Even when he returns it may not be a huge help (though his versatility is helpful). Swihart is hoping to start baseball activities soon but his bat has been a bit below average (93OPS+), definitely a let down in a traditional power position for a Fenway player.

If you want to make a run for the playoffs with that kind of production then I guess we just view things differently.

Tomorrow's a guaranteed loss with Buchholz on the mound so we gotta go get the series win tonight!

Originally it was embarrassing, then it was hilarious. Now it's just beyond mind boggling how Buchholz continues to own a roster spot.

Batter #1 - Single
Batter #2 - Single
Batter #3 - Single (run)
Batter #4 - Single (run)
Batter #5 - Walk

Still 0 outs in the 1st inning. Boy his wife must be really good in bed with some of this teams decision makers. I hope he gets hit by a stray bullet walking by a cattle ranch in Texas and dies accidentally so he never pitched in a Sox uniform again.

******* *** **** embarrassing. Bullpen is already spent too.

Bo Sox Fan Please refrain from hoping someone dies by a bullet whether joking or not. Thank You
