This ump has been awful all night and that Ortiz at bat tops it off. Holy **** that was awful.

The ump is probably a native New Yorker I heard something similar during SB42
one of the Refs was from NJ don't know if true but I wouldn't have been shocked.

a bunch of ****ing chokes. twice they had the bases loaded and that idiot JBJR hits into a DP and now they strike out. can't even put the ****ing ball in play.

I still can't believe that just happened. We had many chances to score tonight and just didn't do well enough, but that was horrible.

lmfao overreact much? Can't win every game, bud.

Anyways..... Are these umps ever disciplined or anything for **** nights like tonight? This Kulpa guy should be suspended for that embarrassing sequence right there (as well as the whole night in general). Then his smug look on his face when Papi came back out. I wanted to jump through the TV and smack the **** out of his fat face.

The ump certainly sucked but i can't stand watching this team with the bases loaded and less than 2 outs. Everytime they do, I am willing to put 100 bucks on it that they won't score a run. There's only 2 outcomes, one is a double play and the other is a strike out. Not to mention Mookie Betts is sucking again

I get the frustration on a night like tonight, but there's 162 games for a reason. That's baseball, you know that. There will be nights they just can't put it together. They're in 1st place (it's early) and have been entertaining to watch. It's not a huge deal.

I'm pretty sure umps can get disciplined. If that's correct, that ump needs to be. He made a horrible call to "show up" Ortiz. You can't do that, this is a professional league.

Ortiz overreacted, but that never happens if the ump is just fair with the call.

Perfect loss, the team is pissed and very damn well should be. They had ample opportunity to win the game ontop of getting ridiculously hosed by a NY umpire and the rest of baseball knows it, just watch the film.

I promise you Price will pitch an absolute gem tomorrow and the Sox win out the rest of this series.

i don't know who's worse; david price or Buchholz. They're supposed to be our #1 and #2 but so far 3 through 5 are our best pitchers. But to be honest, I never liked Price in the first place and didn't like the fact we signed him to that huge deal.

My god. Maybe Price should go to the DL when EdRo is ready.

David Price is pitching better than his ERA would indicate. Look at his FIP, xFIP, and BABIP.

Agreed. He will be fine; give it some time.

I still have hope for Price. He has pitched bad in his last 2 but look at who his opponent was. The Yankees. And Price hasn't had a lot of success off the Yanks as of late.

Bronx Bombers ‏@BronxBomberBlog

In his last 12 starts vs. Yanks, David Price has a 5.66 ERA & has allowed 89 hits & 44 ERs in 70 IP.

Am I pissed about DP? Yeah he could have pitched better. I'm not hitting the panic button with him. Only button I hit with this rotation in Clay. I looked at his '15 numbers and for the month of May He was on 2 Teams so Im averaging them out. So after looking at these results I'm not worried. Everything is about Average except his WAR. His next start is Oakland

K/9| 9.50
BB/9| 1.65
HR/9| 0.75
BABIP|.302
WAR| 6.25
xFIP| 6.00
Now Here where he stands

K/9| 12.03 = Excellent
BB/9| 2.21 = About average
HR/9| 0.98
BABIP| .362 Average
WAR| -0.4
Xfip| 2.69

I am more worried about E-Rod being something close to what we expect him to be than anyone else.

Price... Were 1 month into the season he will probably be the usual 5-6 WAR pitcher that he usually is.

Clay not really worried either (other than health). He started really crappy last year then from some time in May until the injury he was great.

Bullpen, not worried at all and just got Smith back.

Offense... nothing there at all either, just hope Betts starting turning it on

I figured the Yankees would sweep us. We did it to them at Fenway and now they are going to do it to us at Yankee Stadium. It doesn't matter that the Yankees are in last place, they are still the Yankees and they can still kick our ***.

How can you possibly make a statement like that three hours before the game even starts?

Stephen Wright is absolutely filthy.

I think this organization may have lucked out and found a legitimate diamond in the rough here for a very long time. Knuckleballers last forever.

I am glad to have been wrong about that. It looks like Wright is the ace for the year!
