Celtics in 6

They've become a very fun team to watch. I think their depth is what's going to kill ATL.

The league doesn't favor any team. Stop with those garbage posts were you think the league is fixed. It isn't true and it's extremely annoying.

Anyway, as a Celtics fan, I'll take the Celtics in 6. :)

Horford and Milsap with Teague and Korver... plus their experience from last year? I gotta assume this Hawks team is up for the challenge. They are better than their record suggests. I'll go with Hawks in 6.

i think this one is going to come down to who wants it more. The Hawks had a hell of season last year, the team came back less talented, they seemed to being ready to have a fire sale at the deadline, and are rumored to be breaking up after the season. The Celts on the other hand are young hungry and have a slew of bigs to match with the Hawks. I saying Celts in 7.

If Atlanta loses, I say Horford's in a different jersey next season. I like this Celtics team. They need to land some real firepower because with how they summon the best out of guys like Evan Turner and Isaiah Thomas, they'd have a mean bench.

He thinks everything is fixed including Bosh's blood clot. NBA made this up 2 years in a row just to bring him back in the middle of the playoffs to shock everyone with a storyline and a legit title contender. Sad.

Will be rooting for the Celtics, but I think they will need a near flawless effort to beat the Hawks.

(1) The Celtics are not a good shooting team and they're going up against the #1 defense in terms of opponents FG%. The C's shot below their season FG% average for their 4 games against Atlanta.

(2) The Celtics will need to play much better defense as a team and specifically against Millsap. The Hawks had a .506 FG% against Boston in their season series. Millsap was .576 FG% and 22.5 PPG which is 5+ PPG above his season average.

Meh, I had Celtics making this tough and taking it to 7 games but Atlanta is just way more experienced with their core roster. Of course, Atlanta are notorious for not having a legit superstar to take over so that's where the 7 games may potentially be ideal. Still, you have to like the Celtics chances with how hard they battle every game.

You don't watch the Celtics play. Bradley played the 2nd most minutes on the team, got the 2nd most points, 2nd in FGs, 2nd in steals, and is the team's best 3 pt shooter ... but sure, he's not important.

Dude's arguably THE most important Celtic. Arguably.

Built as they are now the Celtics are just a regular season team. Nothing wrong with that, the draft and free agency can change that very fast. They already have an all star and a ton of above average role players so they have a good start. Not to mention an already great coach.

hugepatsfan

C's don't have the offensive talent needed. Didn't help that they drew a bad matchup with ATL being so strong defensively. That magnifies the issue but make no mistake it's still a huge issue.

The only 2 guys on the team that can create their own shot consistently are IT and Turner. And IT is very good but not a transcendent type of talent. Turner is a role player. So while they can create their own shots, they don't do it at the level you need out of your #1/2 to win in the playoffs.

Then there's the matter of injuries. Bradley is probably the best off ball scorer (creates his own shot a little) and he's out. Crowder is another guy in that role but he hurt his ankle a while back and has flat out sucked since coming back. Shot 37% in the regular season after he came back and is shooting 24% in the playoffs. He was a 45% shooter before the injury. Kelly Olynyk isn't great but he's a decent offensive talent in the front court. He's out with a shoulder injury now.

It's definitely not a coaching problem. It's a problem that they lack a legitimate star to close games. It's why Atlanta is truly never a threatening team despite the fact that they have a pretty good and well-rounded roster. You need stars to win. Detroit Pistons didn't have it back in 2004 but Billups and RIP were big shot makers.

In the end, the Celtics inability to hit outside shots hurt them. That's been basically their whole offense for most of the season. When you take out three of their top five shooters (Bradley, Crowder, Olynyk), you'll see an offense that struggles. All of those guys had injuries which either didn't allow them to play or completely recked their offensive game.

Congrats to the Hawks though, they played really well for most of the series. They were clearly the more talented and better team.
