The Mavericks are interested in Dwight Howard but not for a max contract (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/articles/report-mavericks-interested-in-dwight-howard-not-willing-to-pay-max-403983.html).

I guess the choice for Howard is whether he wants to win or get a max contract, which in itself is pretty unlikely.
He should probably repent, take whatever Dallas offers and try rebuild his credibility. Dallas is a perfect fit for his skill set. A decent passing center could get five or more assists per game kicking the ball out to all those shooters, while having cart blanche in the post.

Howard will not be going anywhere without getting a max contract. Dallas needs Howard more than he needs them. With Dirk on his last leg, he can't carry a team like he use to, with head case Deron Williams, and broke body Chandler Parsons...it would be advised to give Howard the team(let him be the man), and a max contract. And also, get Howard to try and recruit another player or two over the summer. Don't repeat the failures of last year Mark!!!

Will somebody tell Mark Cuban this is not Shark tank!!

Pretty much this. And don't forget $18 million dollar man Wesley Matthews tearing it up at a $11 million dollar value!

Mark Cuban always has had this hard on for centers. He just never gets them. Funny he wants them even when they are not the same players anymore and are on a sharp downward spiral of their careers. He wanted Shaq badly when he was in LA and had a wink wink deal with Shaq when shaq became fat in miami and things were falling apar right before he was traded to phoenix.

Can't see anyone giving him the max again. Ever. He can get somewhat close to it but it would have to be a horrible super desperate team, can't see him going that route at this stage in his career.

But Dallas will probably offer him a reasonable contract with a early opt out. If I were him I'd take it.

Howard still makes a difference for a establish team. Howard and Barnes 2 max guys(someone will offe them max) can put a team like Boston over the top. Howard can be the biggest star in Boston with having the lead the team. The big 3 in Isiah, crowder and Bradley will lead the team to victory while Howard gets to be the face. Howard also makes crowder the best perimeter defender over Leonard or equal to.

He can't be the face because nobody is going to make him the focal point of a offense. I don't think another team will as foolish as Houston is and totally ignore him, but his days of being "the man" are over.

Now if they could come to agreement on a specified role, getting him a minimum amount of touches on offense so he'll stay engaged on D, Boston would be a great look.
