The Cleveland Cavaliers' point guard might consider his squad "the team to beat" in the NBA.

His coach has a more modest view of Cleveland's place among the league's elite.

"Well, I think the team that we have, I think our team is very confident," Tyronn Lue said Friday when asked about Kyrie Irving's recent comments before the Cavs' 110-108 win over the Atlanta Hawks. "When says 'the team to beat,' I would say 'the team to beat in the East.' I wouldn't say overall because Golden State won the championship last year.

"They're the team to beat, and they have the best record in the NBA right now. I just think we're confident that we can get things done."

What's wrong with what he said? Why is this thread-worthy?

Really going out on a limb here...The team's coach, who happens to have the best record in the East and LeBron James, saying they are the team to beat in the Eastern Conference. Shocking stuff...

They're the best team in the east?

Big deal, that's like having the nicest apartment in the projects!

He says this like they've achieved something.

This is status quo. My response when I heard this: I should fawking hope so: you have a multiple time MVP and two guys who were considered franchise players, or at least all-stars, as well as a stellar supporting cast.

While teams should focus on what is in front of them, the real goal for this rosters is a championship, not a conference title.

They should be coming out saying they are the team to beat period, not the team to beat in the East.
