To me a flop is exaggerating contact to get a call whether you get the call or not.

I'll start with some centers
Ewing
Laimbeer
Varajao

I'll let someone else list some of the current infamous players :)

The list starts with Vlade. I mean, cmon. I still envision him giving summer clinics in some dark gym in Serbia. smoke dangling from his mouth, the scent of last nights hooker all over him, just preaching

Vlade
Manu
CP3
Rodman
Kobe (offensively, you know it or you are an idiot)
JJ midget
Sideshow Bob

and Harden deserves a little tribute. He flops around like a fish you are too scared to take off your pole, so it just ends up flopping around the entire dock until you give in and let him go

Whenever this subject is brought up. I have the same answer.

Is anyone in here old enough to have seen the Phoenix Sun's Ron Lee?

Or any player that stood in front of George McGinnis in the NBA?

lmao thank you for that. Vlade was the best.

I don't really think Kobe was a flopper, he was more of a whiner to the refs and would lie about contact and get diva-ish.

I suppose that would make me an idiot then. Think you were just going for shock value or trying to get a rise out of Kobephiles, as he's one of the last stars I think of when it comes to flopping.

Anywho...

Vlade
Lebron
Wade
CP3
Harden
Ginobili

Are all players that I've seen flop or flail their body with no contact at least 20 times each.

He ended up being the focus of refs because of his offensive flopping, essentially chucking his arm out looking for contact. His battles with Bowen were hilarious at times.

Vlade is the Godfather of the flop.

These days the all flop 1st team would probably be

CP3
Haren
Lebron
Blake Griffin

Reggie Miller is one of the greats because he'd get under the opponents skin so much that they'd actually give him a little bump and he'd flop on that.

The game with John Starks in the playoffs is a great example.

All time top 10 floppers

1. Vlade Divac.....This guy ruined basketball with his acting. He forever changed the game. Now guys use this as their main defense. Get some contact, fall down!
2. Bill Laimbeer....he was a tough and dirty player, he would do anything to win the game. Flopping was one of them.
3. Anderson Varejao...this guy is notorious for flopping.
4. Shane Battier...he was a very smart player, every chance he got he would flop. Soft.
5. Pau Gasol...he's soft. Always want to play power forward, he's not happy at the center, so, he flop!
6. John Stockton...he was a competitor, John would go against guys better than him, If he could find a way to get his team the ball back(FLOP), he'd do it.
7. Manu Ginobli...one of the great actors of the NBA.
8. Carlos Boozer...no D Booz! That's why he's not playing now, horrible on pick and roll, no defense, and flops way too much.
9. Andres Nocioni....I guess he learned that stuff from Ginobli or something. A bum.
10. J.J. Barea...he's a little guy. What can you say. He's a big time actor, flopper.

Derek Fisher...little guy, he could very well be in the top 10
Chris Paul...he's a little guy also, they do what they can to help the team...which means: Flop!
Tim Duncan...very soft, just watch him. Timmie said: "THANK YOU DAVID ROBINSON"

Laimbeer is the best ever.

I remember Rambis being pretty good at it too.

The big difference is those guys would also take really hard hits. The would take contact and let the contact move them, where as I see guys flopping, and even falling down when they haven't even been touched.

The rule was never intended to be effective. It was a sop to fans who were complaining about flopping. Now that it's not a dominant storyline they don't talk about it much anymore. The program is still in place but it's getting quieter and quieter.

When the program was put into place they specifically were NOT reporting them. Some got out, but not all. And remember there are multiple warnings before any fines are assessed and there is little to no escalation on continued abuse. It was a BS rule to appease the masses.

Vlade was the best flopper not the worst. I remember in jounior high we would practice taking charges then drawing fouls by making it look like we where taking a charge. Just falling strait back. Nothing wrong with that. That's what vlade did every chance he got. I don't ever remember ever practicing getting touched and throwing your body every which way and flaring your arms. Those are the worst kind of floppers.

The OK

Under hooking a defenders arm to draw a shooting foul just like pump faking and jumping into a airborne defender.

Taking a charge is the best defenseive play to stop the driving player but the defender has to completely fall back(flop) to get the charge.

Stepping in fornt of a driveing player who goes airborne and then disses out.

Guarding the post and falling strait back against a stronger player forcing his way by banging
