Jahlil Okafor was caught doing 108 mph on the Ben Franklin Bridge (http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/sports/sixers/Okafor-stopped-for-going-108-MPH-over-bridge.html), according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
This comes after he knocked somebody out for trash-talking him in Chicago earlier last week, and after a heckler pointed a gun at his head after some mutual trash-talking in a night club last month. How long is this dude going to keep narrowly avoiding self-destruction?

Yeesh, first they have Embid and his injuries, now their other center can't stop getting into trouble.

It was reported today, but the speeding actually happened 3 weeks ago.

Maybe he's trying to get cut then join another team and get back to winning basketball games.

He's just in an awful situation, makes you really respect Noel for developing and being a true professional, if I were him, I'd play out my contract sign the 5th year and go wherever I want. That gives the sixers 2 years to improve to a playoff team, does anyone really think they can do that? I don't like people saying Oka is a young punk (which ok he is), but there's more to that. He's world famous, 19 years old, a multi-millionaire, a national champion and the #3 overall draft pick. What does he come into? 0-17.

I don't know if he has a problem, but after watching one of my absolute favorite players, ty lawson go from one of the best PG's to a shell in no time, you have to take the early signs seriously. He's partying, he's driving at speeds that can easily kill him. Let us hope that this is a maturity phase, some of these guys just never get it, and Oka has looked to be very well put together up until these last 2 weeks.

It is a shame. They could have had Porzingis too.

You've got a good point here, though I don't think he'll be going to Boston anytime soon. And Okafor actually fits reasonably well with Nerlens Noel in the front court, like DeMarcus Cousins next to Willy Cauley-Stein.

Someone has not been watching the games.

So weird because he actually seemed like one of the more level headed young basketball players around. That being said, 108 in what was presumably a super car/ high end sports car feels like nothing, before you know it your foot was a little heavy and your at 100. Can't blame him letting his engine rip a little bit, but there's better ways to go about it, like tracks. Still, 108 is a little wreckless, but I've seen dumb *** dudes in pickups hit 100 on the freeway around here.

I used to drink, drive 110+ and fight quite a bit when I was 19 as well. I don't envy his spotlight at this juncture of his life. He's an idiot. But many are at that age. That team needs a mentor.

Speed is not nearly as dangerous as the police make it out to be. Sure, if you crash going 108 it's likely to make a mess, but going in a straight line where there is no traffic coming on or off the roadway it's not that big a deal. Montana had no speed limit and no enforcement for a few years on some of their roads and recorded the fewest fatalities per year over that period.

Here in CA some of the traffic on freeways average over 80mph with people regularly going 90 to pass ... 108 isn't much faster.

The issue isn't that the speed is deadly, it's that Okafor's judgement is poor ... but he's a kid and I'm sure the veteran mentors on the Sixers will get him back in line ... oh wait ... the players who talked about being "mentors" were all let go.
