With the Rays last 2 wins and a D-Backs win today, the Sox will pick 12th.

In that case I hope we sign Price or Cueto. Everyone else would cost us that awesome pick

I really don't want Cueto on this team

To be honest I think you all should go after a Price and Leake to fix your SP. Maybe you could lure Soria to sure up your BP as well.

I don't know how deep this draft is, but this makes trading one of the prospects for a pitcher a more appealing option vs signing one of the pitchers that will cost a draft pick.

I'm a bit mixed on that. To get a TOTR SP we're going to be dealing a player who has established some kind of track record that will be similar to what we'd hope to get from a first round pick. I'm thinking the likes of Margot (positional redundancy) for example. It's potentially a wash unless you're more interested in keeping the pipeline full.

Right, but the SP you acquire in the trade will be younger and more cost effective then the FA SP you would sign. You are giving up a higher current value to make the trade, but the loss of a top prospect is less damaging if the alternative is losing the 12th overall pick and the money that goes with it. When our pick was protected it made little sense to trade top prospects for a good pitcher when you could just sign one for money. Having an unprotected pick makes it an option.

Exactly I am all for trading a for two Pitchers to be honest.

As far as I am concerned Johnson, Owens, Margot, Travis, Barnes, Marrero, Guerra, Kopeh, and Chavis can all be traded if its for guys like Carrasco or Gray

That makes a ton of sense.

Cueto costs nothing as he was traded within season. As is the same with Price. Zimmerman, and Grienke will cost the #12 pick.

Cueto isn't even an option in my eyes. The only way I sign him is for 4 years or less and no more than 20m. That's never happening so I wouldn't even consider it
