I think very underrated with the numbers and production he put up. If he had a competant team earlier in his career he probably would have more than one ring

All time best PF, straight after TD.......

KG on a big market team that didn't care about going into the tax would have more rings.

For a long time I disliked Minny because of wasting KG years; but I'm over it now. But if the league would contract a team, I would vote for Minny because of the KG reason. lol

Depends on who's rating him. I've seen some people underrate him and others overrate him.

Seems to be just about right. Top 5 PF conversation.

depends where you rate him. Top 3 PF to ever play, top 20-25 player ever is about right for him I think.

Yup. 1 of the many reasons he's got that D Bag title by me

Great player.

Bigger D bag. eff that guy.

This.

Loved him on the Wolves but once he went to the Celtics he started taking cheap shots at the smallest guys on the floor.

Having watched Charles Barkley and Karl Malone for all of their careers, I have to say, TD gets the top spot at PF and KG gets the number spot. Both pretty easily.

The thing that set TD and KG apart from Malone and Barkley, is their defense. I was a huge fan of Barkley and Malone back in the day, but neither of them were anywhere near as good at defense as TD and KG, and Malone couldn't touch either as a rebounder (Malone had some impressive rebounding seasons, but it was in an era with more possessions, and KG and TD have higher per36 rebounding stats).

I realize some guys are big on Dirk, and I respect that. So that said, I see KG as no less than top 3 on any reasonable list of the best PFs. I don't know anybody who puts him first overall, so I wouldn't say he was overrated, and I don't know too many people who place him outside of the top 5 at least, so I wouldn't suggest he was underrated. But that said, I do think he gets unfairly criticized for playoff performances, given how awful his Minny team was. There was only one year where they were legit contenders and he took them to the conference finals where the officials destroyed them against LAL. With the Celtics, they went as far as they should have each year I think.

So I would say generally rated where he should be, but slightly underappreciated in general.

at their peak i think I prefer not only TD but Dirk, Pau Gasol, and Jermine Oneal in his own era. certainly a HOFer and guy that sustained a very high level for a very long time but i think second best PF of all time is a reach unless you weight longevity more then i do.

he did get away with more moving screens then any player i've ever seen. it became legal for him.

2nd best PF (After Timmy). His defense was amazing and at his peak, was certainly up there with Timmy as the best PF. He's a top 25 player easily. Maybe top 20 depending on how you value rings.

I love Garnett but he's not better than Duncan or Malone IMO.

He's properly rated the second best. There's a reason more than championships that guys like Kevin Garnett, Karl Malone and Charles Barkley are rated so high.

Good with 2nd best. Closer to Dirk, Malone, Barkley than he is to Timmy.

He was the most talented power forward to ever play but he was always just missing or lacking something

Yeah... a team. His prime days was just a laughing stock with who he played with. Minnesota is one of the worst franchises ever.. only now have they been improving.

I feel like Garnett is a tad overrated. If you want to talk about just peak, then he has an argument as the #2 PF. But if we are talking all time, to me longevity and durability matter big time. Your best ability is availability in pro sports. Malone had one season where he didn't play 80+games and he was 40. After 28 Garnett never came close to a full season and his production fell off a cliff after 32. Malone, however, was still taking his team to the playoffs as a #1 option on offense and best post defender on his team at 39!

Just for comparison:
Malone-Age 38 22.4/8.6/4.3/1.9/0.7

Garnett-Age 32 15.8/8.5/2.5/1/1

I just feel that Malone gave you a much much wider window to win and because of that I rank him considerably higher than Garnett. Just my opinion though.

Love KG but if I had to answer I would say overrated. One of the greatest of all-time and he is not an alpha dog on offense.

I love Garnett but he's not better than Duncan or Malone IMO.

Also to add honorable mention Elvin Hayes who played 4 years less and has more points and rebounds overall on Garnett.

i think if KG's career post 2008 was a little better then he could have been unanimous #2 all time pf. but now its more debatable I still have him at 2 tho

Probably 3rd or 4th pf of all time
