We do this normally every year at the start of the summer. Since nobody has taken the liberty to continue it, I'll take the reigns and get us started. We'll skip #1, because it's the most obvious consensus there is in sports. We'll start at who everyone thinks is the 2nd best player of all time.

If you think someone should be added to the poll PLEASE don't ***** about it. Just mention in the thread that he should be added to the next poll and if the player's all-time standing is relatively close to the number we're at there shouldn't be a problem adding him to the poll.

So, who does everyone have?

1. Michael Jordan
2. ?

Kareem.

Two-way stud. MVP. Longevity. Titles. He checks all the boxes for me.

Generally we've just done the full Top 50 3 years apart I think (to allow players to grow and enough site overturn). This site is not ready for that list at this point though. Seems to be an All-Time low of discourse.

Anyway, KAJ is my choice here as well. His peak, prime and longevity as a 2 way dominant force + winner also give him the best case for contention as #1 over MJ. And not sure if the Bird omission was on purpose or not, but obviously he has to be here with this group.

Idk if we'll go all the way up to #50, I was initially thinking top-25 or so. Agreed on KAJ though, he should take this cake all the way home

Yeah we could probably do 25 and it would just be a fun thing to have up while off-season/pre-season is going on.

If people want to check it out here's the first Top 50 list from 2011: http://forums.prosportsdaily.com/showthread.php?635088-PSD-s-Top-50-List-of-the-Greatest-NBA-Players-of-All-Time

And the Top 30 from 2014: http://forums.prosportsdaily.com/showthread.php?871758-PSD-s-Top-50-List-of-the-Greatest-NBA-Players-of-All-Time

do u find it weird that Magic gets most of the credit on those teams? People ignore Kareem like he was some role player or something (mainstream media I mean).

Kareem. Controlled both ends of the floor for a very long time and won while he did it.

I will go with KAJ as well.

Hoping this is the year Bird, and Ewing do not get underrated on PSD

Kareem here for me as well.

Russell dropping from 5 to 11 is what caught my eye as a big difference in the polls from 2011 to 2014

KAJ for the reasons everyone else has basically said

There's my guy.

Stick around for these PSK, we could generate some decent debate. This one's open/shut unless somebody wants to take a stand for Bill or Wilt; both can make interesting/polarizing arguments.

I guess I can go ahead and make the #3 thread huh

I will say that when a similar but larger site made this exact thread a few years back (that included a ton of relevant/interesting conversation), Russell did in fact come in 2nd. I'm a lot higher on Russell than most, but him falling to 11 didn't sit well with me on this previous list (some smart posters here like Chronz were probably happy w/ that though). I just don't think a lot of people quite understand how genius/competitive/effective he was. That said, still KAJ here for me. He's a monster in all regards.

Before Jordan came along, Kareem was the GOAT. None else has come after them who could come close enough.

If I'm a nba coach coaching these guys in there prime, I don't take Kareem over Lebron or Shaq. Sorry

If you knew he'd win 5 MVP's 10 years apart and mark the beginning and end of his prime 15 years apart with Finals MVP's? I bet you would. He gave a decade and a half of elite offense and defense. Lebron's not even giving us elite D anymore. Having the best college career ever sort of hurt what would have been an even longer amount of elite play as he was already arguably the best player in the league as a rookie, and was definitely the leagues best player for a decade straight.

#2 should be as much a consensus as #1 :laugh2:

KAJ in a landslide.

Yeah will try to vote on each and pop in/out. Don't really see an argument for anyone but KAJ though.
