PG Chris Paul
SG James Harden
SF Kevin Durant
PF LeBron James
C Anthony Davis

PG Stephen Curry
PG Russell Westbrook
SG Kobe Bryant
PF LaMarcus Aldridge
PF Blake Griffin
PF Tim Duncan
C Dwight Howard

I'm taking Bryant and Duncan for old time sakes, reminds of Magic and Bird in '92.
The rest is the best of the best, don't care about taking defensive stoppers or three point specialist like Leonard, Chandler or Korver.

This team is just too good to lose.

Thoughts?

i dont think Kobe and Duncan will even be up for it so replace them with Klay and Melo prob and the rest looks about right

A- Duncan said he would never play international ball again after he was pissed at the refs when he did
B- Duncan and Kobe are way too old

Curry-Paul-Westbrook
Harden-Klay-kyrie
Durant-Melo-Leonard
Lebron-Blake
Davis-CousinsI agree with most of this. Not sure about Leonard, and not likely I'd ever take Blake to an international game. Probably sub Love for Blake because he can shoot. Center is always tough, because it's not always about the best player, but the best fit for international games.

I was thinking the same thing for the bigs... ie Bosh vs. Dwight a while back (08?). Bosh looked amazing in the int'l game, Dwight who was dominating the NBA then didn't. Barkley too just dominated the int'l game... that was sick.

I keep wondering who would be a fit like that... And I keep thinking the same name as you. Kevin Love. Just 17 minutes a game in the last Olympics and he averaged 12-8 on 63% shooting. He beasts on the boards, spreads the floor, scores high percentage buckets, passes well, and there is not usually the inside presence of the int'l teams to expose him at all inside defensively. I almost wish Love was from Canada or France or something where he'd be playing 30+ minutes a game...

Is Andre Igoudala going for it again?

i wish wade would join the team. i would love watching a core of CP3, wade, bron, melo and an old school center coming together for a last olympics run. same goes for kobe

The best part about the Olympics is that you don't have to worry about defensive stoppers on Team USA. There's no reason for America to even be challenged because of how much talent we have. Put the best offensive guys out there and run through everybody.

PG: Paul/Westbrook/Curry
SG: Harden/Klay
SF: Durant/Melo
PF: LeBron/Blake
C: Davis/Cousins

There's 11 definites. To make it 15, I'd also add:

Paul George - If he's healthy, he's the budding young superstar in the league.
Kyrie Irving - He's probably the most exciting player going up and down the court in basketball. He can pass, shoot, and finish. Built for the international game.
Kevin Love - Team USA plays relatively small, and he's the best scoring and rebounding smaller big man in basketball.
Kyle Korver - Maybe the best spot-shooter in basketball. He'd be wide open all summer.

The US could win with all PGs.

PG: Paul
SG: Curry
SF: Irving
PF: Westbrook
C: Wall

Or should we put one of the bigger but lesser PGs in at C :)

Jump, steal, bucket, steal, bucket, steal, bucket :)

Crazy that LeBron/Melo/CP3 are like the old guys in this squad.

Tough... but here's mine..

Remember 12 man roster for the Olympics...

Front line... Davis, Love, Blake, Cousins

Wings... Lebron, KD, George, Melo

Ball... CP3, Steph, Kyrie, Harden.

That is the best worst situation to be in... Having to say no to Westbrook, Wall, Dwight, Klay, Kawhi...

Maybe pull Melo and do the final spot for the hardest worker in camps. The guy there every day, the guy who shows up for everything, helps promote it with interviews, etc. Don't actually say it, but just give the hard worker the 12th roster spot.

Your kidding yourself if you think Melo is the 12th man on this roster. When it comes to international ball Melo can drop 30 a night. He was the scoring machine on that last Olympic team. There is no way they cut him for a hoo rah bench player. In the lineup you just posted the odd people looking in would be George, Love, and Harden. There are better 2 way guard options for international ball then Harden. As well as George and Love coming off very tough injuries.

I think I'd replace Love with Bosh. Besides that I think that is what the roster will end up looking like.

I take that back I'd also probably add Westbrook instead of Kyrie or Harden.

I think Kawhi will make the final roster. He's a good glue piece for a team full of egos.

Kobe should make the team, nice way to end his career

I can see both of those.. The more I look at it, Westbrook seems like the guy I'd like too over Irving. But who knows, Lilliard or Klay or someone might have an insane year too and be the best man in.

As for Bosh vs. Love... That's tough. Love killed it in the last Olympics and at the Fiba tourney or whatever that was that he was in. All that speed and his outlet passing was a perfect match. Guy is just made for int'l play. But Bosh did the same the Olympics before. Both are great jump shooting bigs that can stretch the floor.

And I hate pulling Melo too. He becomes the most overqualified spot up guy, and kills international play too.

Just no right answer...

Avenger... so if Kobe goes... do you pull CP3, Harden, Westbrook or Steph aside and tell them they aren't going? I'd love to see him there, but that would be a crappy cut to make and tell a guy.

This is BRUTAL.

USA Basketball likes to keep players from the previous team who come back (reward players who are interested in being consistent members over players who only want to play in the olympics), but here we have players from the past 3 teams all wanting to play, and how can they say no to superstars?

Whoever the 12 are the next 12 could win gold easily.

Nah, I think with his injuries this past year, he might not be all for going again, but his season should be short this year too.

Not sure how you can say he's built for the int'l game (he is, I'll give you that) and say Love is on the outside though. That's probably the next best one built for that and we've seen that the past Olympics and FIBA WC's. Able to space the floor and create driving lanes with his shot, kills on the boards, the best outlet passer for a team that loves to run. He was perfect in his role last time. Harden... I think he'd be a fine fit, quick and strong, wide paint on defense. I think he'd fit just fine.
