The Angels have acquired veteran outfielder Shane Victorino from the Red Sox, the team announced (as first reported by Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports reports on Twitter).

Details to come. Let the fun begin!

For INF Josh Rutledge. Multi position player. 26 years old. I wonder if this means Holt is gone.

Glad Victorino goes to a playoff contender. Dude had some of the biggest hits in Sox playoff history with his Gm6 slam in ALCS that won the pennant and the bases clearing double that would prove to be the winning runs in the WS clincher. Always appreciate him for his contributions to that championship.

Holt is better.

274/.323/.403 in AAA for Rutledge after he was expected to be the opening day starter at 2nd.

Rutledge is not going to effect anyone's place on the team. He's just AAA filler depth.

Not sure what thread to put this in but Joe Kelly is a complete disaster.

Never trade with the Cardinals again, we lose.

Was just going to say, anyone else watching this disaster unfold?

Uggggh I was having a good day until this team started playing baseball. Now Napoli ejected and we're not even out of the 1st inning.

Yes, Holt is better. Perhaps better enough that he (Holt) could return something of value in a trade? I think that's what was behind the original comment.

I didn't expect to get much in return for Victorino but this one has me scratching my head unless there's something else going on. Judging by his MiLB/MLB time he's got to be on his last option year so they're going to have to carry him or cut him next year. I'd expect "no value" to at least be organizational filler that would last beyond the current season.

I mean sure, that's common sense...I just don't think he necessarily indicates anything involving Holt.

He had to be traded. Good luck to him with the Los Angeles Angels.
