One more quick rule question.

Does the 7 player limit for 90s+ players include these 5 free agents?

Yea. There's a limit to 7 total roster spots from 90's and 2000's to today groupings.

I was ok with the explanation. I didn't agree with your explanation based on the wording of the rules but as I said in my very first response I would adapt. I understand first time players in any game are at a disadvantage and that I would be almost surely going to be making rookie mistakes, but you came across strong in your stance that I am right and several newcomers are wrong.

For me the reasonable response would of been something along these lines.

This is how we have been playing the game for years (or however long you guys have been playing). Even though its clear to me and veteran owners I can understand how the wording could be misconstrued for first time players, but its too late in the draft to change as some people drafted based on experience playing the game, and others drafted based on the written rules. In this case of making the best of a bad situation I think the correct path is too play according to past practice. In the off season I will look to make some corrections to the rules to better avoid this happening again.

LOL

I did admit that I saw how it could be confusing to first-time players. I did say it was too late to change anything.

So, when we do the write ups (assuming you are playoff bound) are we only indicating starters and operating from a base package or what?

I know this has been discussed elsewhere but I don't remember the point of reference.

No, the starters are just supposed to be your primary players. Like, take my roster for example. I don't want someone to start Mark Bavaro at TE to fill a decade requirement and then say, "Jimmy Graham will be as much/more than Bavaro at TE." Rather, Bavaro is my starter, and Graham will be a RZ/match-up guy from time-to-time. Not a full-time or near-full-time player at TE.

Just rank every team that has a clubhouse. PM ballots to me. I'll work out ineligibility as I get ballots. I think we'll do 12 playoff teams, so the top four will have byes. The first two rounds will be in here, then the Final 4 and Championship in the main forum.

I don't mind you asking questions, but you should check your math before you do. I searched every single one of those that you said came out less than 11 times, and they all came out 11 times. Yes, 6 teams have more votes than everyone else. If you'd take care to look, you'd see those are the teams that didn't sent ballots. That's why they are automatically disqualified.

Your team is the 5th seed. That is all there is to it.

Sometimes people just have an outlier opinion on a team. Honestly I thought the Colts were way better than the range most people put them in, for example.

That's all I was curious about, cuz I honestly was surprised you put the place rankings. So curiosity got the better of me and I was wondering, like the AA's (who have 2 starting QBs listed) got a 2, who on that ballot got bumped down. Not such a big deal I want you going out of your way, but it just caught my interest.

The AA had 2 QB's listed as starting and 12 players listed as starters. I figured they just made a error.

I personally penalized teams for playing players out of position. I however did not penalize the AA for the error of 2 QB's.

You really docked for a tackle playing guard?

In your case I docked you 1 spot for playing Dierdorf at Guard.

I stayed within the guidelines of positions I expect everyone else to do the same. I could of drafted a DE or CB to play OLB and ignore positional guidelines, but I think in the spirit of the game we should pick players to play positions that actually played the positions in the NFL.

Olinemen are olinemen. Offensive tackles have shown they can be good guards later in their careers but don't make good centers. Guards don't make good centers or tackles. Centers can usually transition between center and guard but don't traditionally make good tackles.

Also fwiw pro-football reference list Dan as t-g-c so he's shown to able to play any of the 3;)

Regardless what Pro Football reference lists for Dan Dierdorf I doubt Dan Dierdorf ever started a NFL game at Guard.

I am sure many players could of played other positions, but I am grading players by the positions they played not what they could of played.. Dan Dierdorf played tackle during the bulk of his career not guard.

Is the profootball hall of fame valid enough?

There write-up on him says he started his career as a guard and tackle before sticking at rt. He later played center because of a personnel emergency and played well there despite never playing the position before.

I am giving you credit how he played at Guard in his career. You want me to judge Dierdorf how he played at Tackle then play him at Tackle. You however are playing him at Guard and that is how I am judging him, I am judging Dierdorf on how he played at Guard in his NFL career.

P.S. In comparison to other owners I ranked your team fairly well. I had a tough decision between you and another owners team and for me it came down to you playing Dierdorf out of position as the tie breaker. I was a lot harsher on another owner who was playing many players out of position.

That's a little extreme.

1995-2004 Minimum of 3 Players (Max of 4)
2005-2014 Minimum of 2 Players (Max of 2)

I'd be cool with that. Limit the 90s-00s-10s (if we do the 10s) but the rest is however many you want.

If we did away with the 2010 decade, we could still draft players that retired in that time but played more in the 00s right?

We're up to 16!

What's our goal? Have we decided? Anyone check what we had last year? 20 seems more than fine to me honestly. I'd rather get started soon, then again, August is my busiest month but that hardly matters.

Na, I would try hard on both and wouldn't trade with anyone to make it fair. Go 4-3 on one 3-4 on the other haha

I don't think just an extra team is necessary. Probably would bother some people for whatever damn reasons

UTB would play but gone till the 12th on vacation, although at this rate we can start when he returns.

haha no joke.

I get the impression we're playing with what we have.

The next thing to try is to spam a link to all the team forums with a short message inviting people. Lots of people don't check the main or even notice that announcement I bet.

I've done that before and it's gotten people for games.

This is a good idea. I think some are just too scared off by it too which is crazy.

We've got a solid start with 16 people so far and could have a good league with that. I think 20 is a reasonable goal if we could squeeze some more people in this.

Why not just make the rosters a little bigger if we do only end up playing with 16? Kinda like fantasy football

I think we should consider starting this soon. Signups have been up for over a week and we could have our draft lotto reveal with a start time in like a day or so after that. If someone else signs up before official start of the draft, they can be added to the back end.

Adding additional players doesn't help the issue at hand though. The issue is with two few teams all the teams get too top heavy essentially. Well heavy all the way through. They're all better so it's harder to vote. More teams helps thin the herd some. More players on each team doesn't help that imo

From the discussions, looks like most are in favor of no limits except on 90s, 00s, 10s?

Or would it be a minimum for each decade outside 90s,00s,10s (who have a maximum #).

Man it's a shame we can't use franchises that tried to become franchises.
I did this elsewhere and you could use any pro team ever.

Everyone used Japanese x league names lol

We should try the college all time after this again. Did you do that? Holy **** that was interesting

I want a max on 90s and post and minimum on before the 50s.that's all .

It's more fun when you're forced to research.

I'm fine with anything but we do need to figure it out haha, maybe just keep the decades we have and merge the 20s-30s-40s-50s.

Three players minimum
20s-50s
60s
70s
80s
Seven players maximum (Only 1 can be from 2010s decade)
90s+

How does that sound?

KTS new decades work for me but Id remove the minimum requirements for the 90s+ decades. Or reword it. Sounds like you want 3 for 90s 00s and 10s, three for 90s-thru-10s would be fine.

Also need to put in there about a players decade is the one they played the most in, unless its a dead tie at 5/5 or 6/6 etc. If they played 6 years in 70s and 5 years in 60s they should be a 70s, IMO.

I'm cool with this.

The Jokemaker

I did this elsewhere and you could use any pro team ever.

Everyone used Japanese x league names lol

We should try the college all time after this again. Did you do that? Holy **** that was interesting

That would be insane.

I never did the college draft but one can imagine the crazy names.

I just meant in general it was fun. We drafted guys from the 1800s and pimped them lol. It was great. I think Strive won that iirc

So do the decade requirements have to be starters?

The rule thread was unclear on that.
