What was the projected number?

67. But then as of last week new leaks said prob 68-69. An extra 3 mill doesn't sound like much but it adds up big time on a tax multiplier.

Helps the Lakers. They don't have to unload a player now to be able to complete the agreed upon deals

This isn't fair. They're just giving Cleveland more money to spend!

If this small increased was so underestimated, it is going to be interesting to see how much the cap actually rises next season with the TV money kicking in. The cap was projected to go from 63 to 67 million this year and it actually jumped to 70 million. The 7 million dollar increase is about 43% greater than the projected 4 million dollar increase. Using the widely circulated estimate of a 89 million 2016 salary cap and doing some back of the envelope math, if the projections are undershooting next year's increase like they did this years, the cap could be in the range of 96-97 million for 2016. Again, this is just speculation and super-unscientific math but it will be intriguing to see just how much the cap rises next year.
