Oh damn! Did not expect that!

D'Angelo Russell/Lou Williams
Jordan Clarkson/Nick Young
Kobe Bryant/Anthony Brown
Julius Randle/Larry Nance Jr.
Roy Hibbert/Tarik Black/Robert Upshaw

Although I'm expecting Nick Young to be traded soon. Which I would also be happy with. We'll see.

Lakers will be a fun, interesting team but why try to be good THIS year? I'm thinking they needed 1-2 more years of top 5 picks before trying to win. It may cost them long term.

First round pick next year is only top 3 protected....so what difference does it make? If we are near the bottom of the league there is a good chance the pick will be gone anyway.

1. The Lakers pick next season is only top 3 protected. Trying to be the worst team in the league doesn't even guarantee keeping the pick.

2. Lakers are trying to be good now because free agents need to see the Lakers improve before they even consider signing here.

I'm confused. Tip 3 protected which way? Like if top 3 they lose it? It either is or isn't. No probably for pick trade stipulations.

Top 3 protected as in we lose the pick if it's not top 3. If the pick is 4-30, we lose the pick.

Sounds to me then like you should be as bad as possible. Lakers without Lou/Hibbert would again fight for bottom 3 seed. Mathematically odds in your favor to keep that way. Problem is Kobe won't allow it before acting out. Lakers too prideful to tank.

No, it's better to try to make the team a bit more appealing to free agents, rather than suck in hopes for a pick we probably won't even get. Look at the Knicks, the lottery pushed them to 4th pick. It's basic risk v reward strategy.

Because the fans are calling for Jim buss's head. They're not trying to be a bottom 5 team. They know they won't contend for a title but they have to try and win games or else they'll be forced to give Jim and mitch the boot which obviously those 2 don't want.

No. Again, getting the worst record in the league doesn't even guarantee keeping the pick. It's only a 64% chance.

And as I explained already, we need to improve to show interest from better free agents with the huge cap increase.

Besides, with Kobe and Randle back, Russell drafted, Clarkson improving even more, we wouldn't be bad enough to tank for the worst record anyway.

Oh okay. That makes sense guys if you feel it's better to build through FA than draft. BUT this summer proved that's a big gamble too. Lakers wanted Love, DJ, Aldridge, Butler etc. Ended up with Hibbert and Lou. So you see both ways are a gamble/risk.

Decent signing. Biiiggg upgrade over Nick Young at the very least. And a better move as oppose to resigning Ellington imo.
Now we absolutely must trade Young and acquire a starting caliber small forward.
Hoping Anthony Brown develops over time and becomes a solid 3 & D SF.

Also another move to ensure Kobes minutes stay under 30 per game.
If it were up to me I wouldnt even let the bastard play.
De'Angelo Russell, Lou Williams
Jordan Clarkson, Jabari Brown
Anthony Brown, Nick Young
Julius Randle, Larry Nance, Ryan Kelly
Roy Hibbert, Tarik Black, Robert Upshaw

Without Mamba we'd at least have a shot at keeping the pick.
i know its cheap but bc Kobe f**ked us so hard i wouldnt mind going for it ONE last time.
Could you freaking imagine the rebuild wed have with Russell, Clarkson, Randle, next yrs top 3 + an additional 25m to spend..........
Only Philladelphia would without a doubt be worse next year.
A man can dream, right!!??

Actually all Lakers wanted was Aldridge since we went all in for him. :laugh2:

Everything is a gamble. Your Clippers gambled on keeping DeAndre Jordan instead of trading him for example. The playoffs is a gamble.

The matter of the fact is, the Lakers want to improve. Obviously we won't win a title next season, no sane person is expecting that. But in order to compete for the future and give us the best possible chance at signing key free agents next season, we need to show improvement.

He was also 2nd on the team in WS and WS/48, behind Jonas.

The Raps bench was pathetic and now it's likely even worse than before. Lou actually gave them a spark. He wasn't brought in to set up guys like Patrick Patterson and Tyler Hansbrough. We was the only one off the bench who could create his own shot and he did that well.

According to SportVU, the Lakers took 283 more contested jumpers than any other team last season, even with Bryant playing only 35 games. Add more Bryant plus Williams and L.A. could lap the field in that category. Among 166 players who attempted at least 300 jumpers, Bryant ranked first (69 percent), Young ranked second (68 percent) and Williams ranked 20th (46 percent) in regard to what percentage of their jumpers were contested. And Clarkson ranked 30th at 43 percent.

Atlanta packaged their 16th pick in the prior draft just to get rid of him. Toronto never tried to re-sign him. There's a reason for that. When he's not scoring he offers nothing positive.

You pro tank guys are kind of funny. With no Kobe, Ronnie Price as our starting PG, Boozer and Lin playing big minutes, and giving time to various D league players we were still no worse than 5th worse record in the league.

To what extent do you want teams to flat out just try to lose? You do realize Philly is still participating in a epic unbeatable tank with like 3 Centers on the roster right?

We are trying to win games, plain and simple.
