Hoping Bulter sees this and follows Leonard's lead.

Steal, since he'd get so much more if he'd re-signed next year

can some one explain how Kawhi gets 90 but davis gets almost 150? whats the cap rule on as to why davis was eligible for so much more?

I'll take a wild guess but it may be based on the position they were drafted?

I'm not sure either though

I think because Davis has been an all star starter and/or on an all NBA team at least twice on his rookie contract.

Im not sure but i think it's cause Leonards deal begins this year under the current salary structure. While AD's doesn't begin til next year after the tv money goes up. I think a player can make 25 % of the cap, and since the cap rises right when AD deal begins he gets a bigger base number.

This makes sense

I feel like one day, when Duncan, pop, and the undeserved awards are out of memory, everyone is going to wonder where this awesome player went. Maybe I'm wrong.

Congrats to the Spurs.

Davis qualifies for the 5th year 30% max contract while Kawhi doesn't so his max starts at 25%. If their contracts were both starting this year with the $69 million cap then Davis' 1st year salary would be $20.7m with maximum raises of $1.55m roughly, Kahwi's max salary would be $17.25m in his 1st season with max raises of $1.29m. That is a $20m difference over the course of 5 seasons. Combine that with Davis's contract starting a year later under a higher cap and its a big difference.

I dont understand how Davis is getting $50 million more than him while both are signing the same length contracts. As far as I know, you can't sign extensions based on future caps. If you sign it now, then it has to be based on this year's cap, not next year's. Someone please tell me what's up with this exactly?

And whatever the case is why doesn't Kahwi do the same thing as Davis and get the same money? I mean why cant they both sign the same length and same money contract is all I want to know.

Davis qualifies for the 30% max while Kahwi only qualifies for the 25% max. That is why Leonard can't sign a contract for the same amount of money.

That is hilarious. Props to the Spurs who even when they max out players get a great deal.

Did you not read

He hasn't made two all star starting teams or been name in two all nba teams. Anthony Davis has.
