Stephen Curry and Draymond Green became the first players to have a plus/minus over 1,000 for a single season since the NBA began counting the stat in 1997.

Curry finished at +1,083 for the regular season and playoffs, while Green's total was +1,031.

LeBron James was the previous record holder at +992 during the 08-09 season ahead of Michael Jordan's +954 in 97-98.

I'm sure there could have been other 1000's prior to the '97 season but holy ****. That is insane.

Am I supposed to believe Green is better than Jordan or Lebron because of this? How much value should we instill into that stat?

That's not what the stat means at all. It says when Green (and Curry) were on the floor, their team was very, very good. That could be Curry, that could be Green, that could be some combination of players that simply played very well together. It could simply mean they have a good team and those guys played a lot of minutes (a la Derrick Fisher).

Pretty crazy...Shows just how dominate the Warriors were as a team this year.

Particularly insane given how little they played compared to the minutes you'd expect to be needed to climb up to +1000.

+/- is always an interesting stat but IMO it's better for role players than for guys your team is build around. So much depends on team strength, depth, and positional depth beyond just normal team depth. Low end stars can put up big +/- some years and high-end stars can put up lesser +/- in years they're clearly at their peak.

Still a nice accomplishment, their team won a lot of games and their 2 best players had a big hand in it.

This shows how great a system they ran and how important these guys are to it

LeBron was the previous record holder and didn't win a championship while Curry, Green, MJ all won the championship, typical LeBron

The Warriors starters were so good that their +/- numbers were crazy all year. It's a simple measure of impact of a player but also a measure of the level the whole team is playing at.

This stat shows how great the team they played for was. The bigger plus/minus the better the team was, meaning they blowed out most of the teams. Best thing is to take players +/- and compare it to teams +/-, which in W's case is probably around +900. The bigger the difference the bigger the impact player has.

Yep. Bugs the crap out of me but I have resolved myself to only mention it about 1 out of 20 times I see it.

Saw a t-shirt the other day that said "I'm with looser".
