Thinking of the Warriors team, I can see them in the finals again next year but also see them out in round 1.

Recently and mainly just thinking of squads where pretty much the entire same personnel came back (top 4-5 players), here are some teams this has happened to.

1980 - Lakers Champions, 1981 Out in Round 1
1983 - Sixers Champions, 1984 Out in Round 1

1999 - Spurs Champions, 2000 Out in Round 1 (Duncan injured)

2006 - Heat Champions, 2007 Out in Round 1
2011 - Mavs Champions, 2012 Out in Round 1

2014 - Spurs Champions, 2015 Out in Round 1

In the current Western Conference gauntlet it could happen very easily.

meh... usually has to do with injuries and those first 2 were those idiotic 3 game series

If David Lee is the only one they lose they are still comfortably the best team in the West. We could be looking at a dynasty.

Door to the West was wide open this year, and they didn't have anywhere nears as tough as a road as they will next year. Thunder will be stacked, Rockets will be better, Clipps will be better too, Spurs likely will have a good year. Pelicans will be better, Grizz ain't going anywhere, Kings might get Lawson which would make them pretty damn good.

how were the best 3 of 5 first round series idiotic? the first round doesn't need to drag on for 7 games. i liked the best of 5 far better for the first round

Everything else the same I think only Spurs and healthy Thunder have a good shot of beating the Warriors in the West. West still looks good but not as menacing as years past.

With the depth of the West and the possibility of injuries I wouldn't be entirely surprised if this happened.

OKC, GSW, Hou, SAS, LAC, Mem, Portland, Dallas, New Orleans. That's 8 teams that are capable of making it out of the first round. At least six of them are capable of being conference finalists.

I don't think it will happen. But I don't think it's impossible either.

You mean to tell me it's a completely new season and Warriors will have earn their way back to a championship? ****
