Yeah me either.. raptors fan and I would've voted for Isaiah as well.

Thomas:67 games @26minutes:
16.4pt/4.2ast/2.3reb/.9stl on 42% & 37.3% 3pt fg Total
15.2pt/3.7ast/2.4reb/1stl on 42.6% & 39.1% 3pt fg with the Suns
19pt/5.4ast/2.1reb/.6stl on 41.1% 34.% 3pt fg with the Celtics

vs

Williams 80 games @25.2mins
15.5pt/2.1ast/1.9reb/1.1stl on 40.4% & 34.0% 3pt fg Total

Better numbers across the board.. must be the games played argument, yet Toronto managed a measily 1 game improvement over last year while thomas pretty much willed the Celtics into the playoffs (albeit with a weak eastern conference but argument goes both ways in this case since their both in the East)

Agreed, Isiah seems like the right pick here.

Yeah, he kind of got robbed, but I think it's the kind of award where if two players are relatively close a lot of voters just go with the more comfortable name. MVP/All NBA/DPOY are probably the only ones that get a good deal of scrutiny (other than from the Zach Lowe crowd, who spend a good deal of time fleshing everything out).

Lou williams is a chucker whos only real gift is getting free throws.

Thomas definitely got robbed

IT deserved it. He's a better player and has the better numbers. Btw his teams won 49 games this season to.

Sean Grande @SeanGrandePBP
Lou Williams' team won 49 games..but so did Isaiah Thomas'...

Suns/Celtics with Isaiah Thomas: 49-35
Suns/Celtics no Isaiah Thomas : 30-50

I guess they just didn't want to give the 6th man award to a guy who played for 2 teams? I don't mind though, Lou was a good pick for 6th man.

Is it? I don't really see how he was better than Isaiah.

80 games to 67 - IT missed some time while Lou was available for his team practically every game. He also played on a better team and didn't get traded mid-way through the year.

IT was slightly better across the board in stats but I'd say those factors pushed Lou ahead.

IT did not have a drake song about him so I am not sure how this is even close

Curry has a Drake line while Harden has a shout out in a Game song. (From what I know)

Should've been Isiah's

Hope this doesn't mean the Raptors open the bank to resign this guy :laugh2:

Agree completely. IT had a great season but those factors justifiably give Lou the edge which is far from a bad choice or robbery. Lou had a huge impact this season for the Raps. Very happy for him!

Probably a combination of less games played and also playing for 2 teams. That seems to take away the luster of what a player has done.

From Toronto and am a serious raptors fan, but Isaiah should have won. Though Lou Will definitely deserves being in a tight vote for it, he really provided the spark for the Raps.

He's been their most consistent player all year.

He shot 40% from the field and average from 3's. He had a lot of bad shooting games.

IT had better shooting % and better advanced numbers

dalton749

a big reason Lou's shooting numbers were so low was because he took more end of quarter shots than anyone in the league, a lot being deep 3s because we have a ******** coach.

He also lived at the free throw line and got people to foul on more threes, I can't imagine anyone in the league getting close to the same amount.

I called this at the begin in of the season though, in that ridiculous Knicks winning 54 games thread saying it was the most underrated moves of the offseason.

bench defensive players are overlooked for chuckers in the 6th man award.

Williams or Thomas ... both score, but do they make their teammates better or defend? Not much.

Between those 2 I'd go with Thomas too (though you have to question how a guy who seems so valuable manages to change teams 2 times in under a year).

How about Brandan Wright? He has that same multi team issue, but still played 75 games at a MUCH higher WS/48, doesn't score like Lou or Isiah, but fills the stat sheet and at a higher efficiency level.

Nobody has anything to say on Brandan Wright for 6th man?
