In 2005 Kobe averagd 35.4 points a game and I thought he should have been MVP. However the Lakers finished 7th in the West while Steve Nash and the Suns finished 2nd. Is it fair for Westbrook to get it while Kobe never?

No. Westbrook is not the MVP and neither was Kobe in 2005-2006.

We never got to see those Lakers play without Kobe for a long stretch, so that would be the only reason why Westbrook would have a pass for being an 7-8th seed

And even then, there's no way he ends up being the mvp in my books

Of course he can. Because one player on a 7th seed one year didn't win MVP doesn't mean no one in the future ever can.

I don't see the relevance of the comparison. Kobe wasn't the most productive player in the league

Kobe probably should've won that year. I don't think Westbrook will win; I think Curry will.
Nash was good, but Phoenix just shot 3's mostly--not really much to boast about.

Kobe should have won it that year, but we all know you better be a top seed to get some consideration, so westy has slim to no chance.

He won't get it, same as Kobe. Voters suck now a days.

voting for MVP has been suspect since before I was born. They get it right over half the time, but not my much haha

IMO Kobe shoulda won it in 05-06 rather than 08-09 when Wade should of won it. Nash should only have one MVP

Harden deserves mvp this year

Westbrook is having the more complete season in 14-15 then Kobe did back in 05-06 so if he manages to win the MVP it will a rare case when individual numbers overrule the team's record/seeding. Kobe had zero triple doubles in 05-06, while Westbrook has nine triple doubles in 14-15, and in less games than Kobe played that year. Westbrook is putting up 8.7 ast and 7.2 rb this year, while Kobe only put up 4.5 ast and 5.3 rb in that season, and Westbrook has the better PER with 30 to Kobe's 28.

I am still going with Harden to win the MVP. He has carried that team to a top 3 seed in the West Conf, without Howard for most of the season, and with losing Parsons/Asik in the offseason. This is really what the award should be all about. Curry has much better talent around him and GS didn't suffer any big injuries or offseason departures like Hou did.

+1

Westbrook is playing amazing yes but lebron is the better comparison to Kobe. Lebron is the best /most talented player in the L but might get overlooked with curry like Kobe/Nash
