View Full Version : Will TNT ever get to host the NBA Finals?

Who else wishes that TNT and the Inside the NBA crew would cover the NBA Finals, instead of ABC? I've always felt like ABC's coverage is weak compared to TNT's style with no real excitement or effort, and then the local news comes on afterward, when it could be Inside the NBA.

Will it ever happen?

Man, I must be getting old as I find TNT's coverage almost unbearable to watch. I hope they don't get their hands on the Finals coverage.

If TNT gets it, I won't watch it unless my team is there.

lol, you want to see Chuck and Shaq cover the NBA Finals? Kenny and Ernie can go right ahead...

The TNT announcers are terrible too - Reggie and Chris Webber?

Gimme Van Gundy and Breen all day.

Doug and Jalen actually analyze the game, Chuck just cracks jokes and argues with Shaq like a married couple.

No. The finals of all 4 major sports are always held on regular broadcast channels so anyone with a tv can watch them. By going TNT, a cable channel (in the age of more cord cutters), you now reduce your viewer base and advertising dollars.

wont happen, finals have to be on local broadcast networks to maximize ratings and advertisement profits.

Marv Albert wears women's underwear

I don't care if he wears it while he calls a game.. He's still better than Breen..

I like Chuck but I think he jokes around too much and he'll often use slang -- which I think will draw fans away.

I can't begin to describe how bad the ESPN NBA crew are especially the play by play commentators. TNT should host NBA games for Tues, Thurs, and Sun, ESPN for Wed and Fri, NBATV for Mon and Sat. And TNT should host the Finals, would be SOOO much better, OR at least have TNT and ESPN take turns hosting it every other year, kind of like how the NFL does it with the SB

If you saw Marv without his toupee, you'd think he's in his 140's.

I hate the TNT guys, don't really have much respect for most of the ESPN guys. Give it to NBC with the Sunday Night football commentators lol.

I think Marv and Mike Fatello were the best. I also enjoyed Marv with Steve Kerr and JVG a lot.

This is true, and even if it wasn't, I doubt Turner would be willing to pump enough dollars into the Finals to really compete with ESPN in a bidding war.

JVG, Jackson, and Hubie are the best sidline commentators, whereas Inside the NBA by far is the best studio show

he probably has, but that doesnt mean that he's a good commentator to me. i find his voice boring and the fact that he analyzes literally every single thing that happens in the game extremely annoying

LOOTERX9

Hubie is boring, marv is boring.. Breen is exciting, kevin Harlin is exciting. I need some excitement in announcers voice calling plays. Oh and the finals will always be on abc or broadcast tv and not on a cable network. It's stupid to think otherwise

Man, I must be the only person that likes Hubie Brown. He breaks it down. I was a big fan of Doug Collins when he was commentating too.

But I also like Reggie, and Marv is obviously a no-brainer. Kevin Harlan is the Marv-wannabe so I like him too.

Mark Jackson and JVG are also favorites. Each commentator has their own style and I can get with it. I'm cool with one or the other not being spectacular with it.

Of course, if a game comes down to the last shot I'd rather have Marv than anyone else. KOBE, FOR THE WIIINNNNN

Doesn't look like there will be any NBC on ABC this Sunday. I guess they don't want to compete with the Masters. I didn't think there was that many crossover NBA/golf fans.
