Doc is so dumb I want to punch him in the fu**ing throat. Yes... rest CP3+DJ for 6+ quarter minutes while the other team turns an 18 point deficit into a 3 point lead. CP3 averages 35 mpg and is 29 years old, DJ averages 34 mpg and just turned 26. NO EXCUSE whatsoever for Doc's stupidity with his rotations. This team LACKS depth and the bench CANNOT afford to play so many minutes when they are getting destroyed. I can't remember the last team besides the Spurs who let the bench play for such long stretches and the difference is they were far more productive.

Clippers were up 18 in the first quarter!

Ya now that we are somewhat healthy the team has looked much better. Really excited about our young players and another top pick.

Watching the lavine dunks and wiggins spin moves to the hoop added a little extra to the losing experience when we were injured though. We have had some great plays tonight, fun to watch.

Clippers have allowed 24 percent shooting in last 3 games 4th quarter vs Memphis, Chicago and now Minny. Although those aren't exactly juggernaut offenses to begin with. But tonight that was without Barnes/Griffin and then Crawford/Redick.

clippers lookin scarier every day. Paul has some kinda confidence that he hasn't had for a couple years.

Its like you have a ridiculously stacked looking west, and instead of teams slowly falling off with time, they just keep elevating and elevating. At this rate, I won't be surprised if Rondo and Dwight end up perfectly fitting on their teams and turning them into juggernauts too. This is gonna be a dog fight right from the first tip off in round 1.

I think that if he had better rotations to begin with, we wouldn't be in these predicaments of close games vs lotto teams to begin with, with or without Griffin. Team was up 18 points after 1 quarter and Doc's rotations really screwed them.

Sorry I thought Lillard just broke the record for the most made threes in a players first 3 seasons?

Kyrie having a hell of a year though. Amazing how well he can shoot when LeBron is drawing all that attention huh ;)

Just as well we were talking about at the present time. During the time of that discussion Lillard was the better shooter. In this moment. It's Irving. :)

But hey, in general Lillard > Irving still. I'll argue that all damn day.

And don't forget. You chose to engage in that argument. Nobody makes you do that. If you don't want to do it, don't do it. Not difficult.

Career:

45.1/38.5/86.0 > 42.9/37.1/86.0

Now, yesterday, tomorrow. Irving's #'s improved now that he's finally not the #1 and focal point of the defense (IE, in a situation much more applicable to Lillard's career)? Lol. Shocker. Who could have seen it coming?

Lol... you think Aldridge is the focus of the defense? Lillard will receive more attention defensively with his team than Irving will with the cavs. Having LeBron on your team is like having a cheat code.

Give Lillard LeBron or Durant and see what happens to his numbers ;)

Aldridge is the #1, yes, and it is the spacing that Matthews and company also have offered him within a finely tuned offense that created such a more advantageous situation for himself over Kyrie. Hence, even this season with Kyrie playing alongside Lebron, Lillard still sees a significant amount of more open looks than Kyrie. Here's the #'s: 14% of Kyrie's 2pt field goals and 19.9% of his 3's are "open" (>4 feet between him and a defender). For Lillard it's 16.4% of his 2's and 30% of his 3's that he's afforded that amount of space. They both take ~5% of their shots "late" in the shot clock (less than 4 seconds to 24sec violation), and they're assisted at almost an identical rate on both. Conclusion? Despite the massive disparity in their shooting #'s (Kyrie's being as good or better than Lillard's career best for the 3rd time in 4 seasons now), Lillard still has it easier.

http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/203081/tracking/shots/

http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/202681/tracking/shots/

If Kyrie's got the cheat code, I guess that makes Lillard the game developer?

Funny thing is I never once even said Kyrie was a better shooter, I just took exception to your claims' that Lillard was "in another league" and said that was BS - that Irving was just as good. So, just kiss my feet and let us move on cordially. Mahalo.

*Bonus fun fact* Only Antoine Walker has taken as many 3pt attempts per game at sub 35% shooting from three than Lillard this season. It is truly a legendarily bad shooting display.

Vee-Rex
03-03-2015, 05:33 PM
I've watched every game of Kyrie's NBA career. His improvement was expected, but I can say without a shadow of doubt that his shooting % was low because of constant double and triple teams. Cavs have had NOBODY until this year except Irving and he got into the bad habit of trying to play hero ball to run our offense.

His shooting percentages this year are a much more accurate reflection of his skill. Anyone claiming Lillard is in another league is ig..., have a weird opinion. Personally I believe Kyrie is slightly better only due to improved defense, but I'm sure Blazers fans feel Lillard is better.

Well... Those two losses certainly hurt. I still cannot believe they didn't call that foul on Randolph. There's letting them play and there's just bad officiating, and that call was absolutely the latter.

I take nothing away from Memphis though. That 10-0 run to start the 4th killed Houston, and they didn't exactly deserve to win the game. The Grizzlies are a phenomenal team, and I really hope Houston faces them in the playoffs at full strength. That would be a great series.

Cavs get too ridiculous with letting teams get back into the game when they're blowing them out. I get that it was in Toronto and they won't give up but you can't start slacking and give away such big leads from lazy turnovers. It almost cost us when we should've cruised to an easy win. Toronto is too strong-willed to just roll over.

It was a tough loss, but the season hardly ends tonight. Two things worth noting:

1. Nine of the Rockets next 11 games are against teams not currently in the playoff picture.

You know. We didn't deserve to win after that 10-0 run but this magnifies what happens in playoffs.

Game should be called the same all the time.

I'll take the no-call, because harden does get his share of cheapos. The grizz need to corral the loose balls. Houston scored about ten points in the 4th on broken plays. Great shot by Gasol. Hope this motivates him to beast every night from here on .

But he got literally zero "cheapos" tonight. Seriously, it really feels like the league ****ed Harden and Houston out of two wins against great basketball teams. I still contest that the "kick" on Lebron was incredibly weak, and that call tonight was mind numbingly terrible.

Yeah he didn't get hardly any tonight, but he was in facilitator mode. Grizz avoided bailing him out which attributed to less fouls. Harden shot like 25 fts against the grizz earlier this year, so he does get the benefit of the doubt most of the time. I didn't plan on bringing this up but if I recall there was a questionable no call on a Vince carter crunch time play when we met earlier this year. It happens on both sides.

I think the Rockets might be a first round exit without D12. Harden is unstoppable, but an opposing team can gameplan better for him and cut into his efficiency in a 7 game series. The West is so strong I think any of the top 8 would be able to knock the Rox off without D12.

As whiny and immature as Dwight may be, they need him to be able to make it deep in the playoffs.

Loved the Cavs game. They needed a slap in the mouth like that to prepare them for the playoffs. Hawks outplayed them in virtually every way.

I like Blatt's adjustments in defending them. You can tell by how the players got better by switching off their men, whereas in the 1st quarter they were trying to chase them all over. Hawks have a tricky offense and it takes a smart defense to defend, but I see it can be done, and the Hawks offense fell apart every time the defense played smartly.

Even still, LBJ had a horrid night, Love had a horrid night, and Kyrie had a horrid night with the exception of one stretch, and the momentum with Atlanta being at home was too much to overcome. Cavs missed a lot of open shots yet still managed to make it a closer game than it seemed.

I still see Cleveland taking them in a 7 game series where adjustments will be made and star power become slightly more important, but that's entirely based on my faith in Blatt's ability to adjust multiple times.

tredigs
03-07-2015, 11:26 AM
I still see the Hawks taking them in a best of 7 due to having the better defense and much more battle synergy in their game. A team that knows each other that well can make adjustments on the fly that much easier, and I'd easily favor Bud over Blatt in doing so. Fun game, though. Cleveland even took the lead in the 3rd quarter before the Hawks kicked it into 6th gear again.

It's funny, I immediately saw the lineup of the Cavs at the start of the 4th and I'm like... nooooo. We had a 3rd quarter lead despite playing horribly all game, and were down only 2 to start the 4th and Blatt roll out with this lineup:

PG Irving
SG Dellavedova
SF JR Smith
PF James Jones
C Tristan Thompson

That lineup has absolutely NO defense and NO offense with the exception of Irving. We'd been playing Korver fairly well all night, but then he exploded at the beginning of the 4th because we had no defensive players in and we couldn't respond well because we had no offensive players in (except Irving). They went on like a 12-2 run immediately and pretty much put the game out of reach.

It would be an interesting series in the playoffs, though I was kinda surprised the Cavs hung in there although they were outplayed the whole game.

Edit: Hawks abused us though, no credit taken away from them.

All the Texas teams seem to have really miserable time in every game against the Warriors.

houston and dallas maybe...

The way the Warriors play has me amazed.

They're so good.

If the finals started today, no team is beating them 4 out of 7 imo.

you think so? I feel we been in a slump lately. The dallas game looked good tho, hopefully it starts things back up again, cuz past 3 weeks or so haven't been all that great.

I still see Cleveland taking them in a 7 game series where adjustments will be made and star power become slightly more important, but that's entirely based on my faith in Blatt's ability to adjust multiple times.

I'm leaning toward atlanta in a 7 game series, but either way, I just can't imagine any possible scenario where any team outside of atlanta or cleveland comes out of the east. Pretty much a 2 horse race there, imo.

Sure right now it is but realistically there's no chance OKC isn't making playoffs. Unless Westbrook gets injured again or something.

What if the transition of KD coming back is not as smooth as people imagine? Westbrook has never played better so its not out of the realm of possibility he and KD might not mesh because Westbrook doesn't want to take a back seat.

NO owns the tiebreaker against OKC, so no its not a given. OKC will probably make it, but still a lot of ball to decide that

Tonight was a best case scenario for the Rockets. They beat Denver by double digits and then somehow Memphis and Portland both lose to non-playoff teams. I wasn't expecting that at all, but I'll certainly take it.

Also, I know everyone is already counting on OKC to stay ahead of New Orleans in the playoff hunt, but has anyone seen their upcoming schedule? Their next five are against Toronto, LAC, Minnesota, Chicago and Dallas. And they go through a four-game stretch in April where they play Dallas, Memphis, Houston and San Antonio in a single week. That's pretty brutal.

New Orleans has some tough stretches later this month and a brutal five-game stretch in April, but their schedule is about to get a lot easier after that win over Memphis. Their next five are against Milwaukee twice, Brooklyn, Denver and Phoenix. All winnable games. AND it can't be overlooked that New Orleans won the season series 3-1, so if there's a tie, the Pelicans would get in over OKC.

I still would put my money on the Thunder to make it, but it's a lot more interesting than a lot of posters are making it out to be. That situation is going to be a very intriguing one to watch over the next few weeks.

Definitely. I know yall had a 3-3 Stretch lately before Dallas but the way your teams system looks looks has me convinced.

They had flaming tables matches before they became a staple. Tales me back some.

Absolutely, When I bought it back in the day they had almost every game pre programmed with codes already. Way ahead of its time and I've never enjoyed systems near as much as 64 with a gameshark.

Steph has to make a statement tonight, CP3 has been balling and he LOVES these challenges. Fortunately for us Crawford isn't playing, he's been killing us recently.

Doc Rivers said DeAndre Jordan is the No. 1 candidate for Defensive Player of the Year, and "there is no No. 2

I don't think that's how voting works Doc^
