@ESPNSteinLine: ESPN sources say Sixers and JaVale McGee are having discussions on potential buyout as today's playoff-eligibility buzzer looms at midnight

just posted in our forum but this seems odd to do now since there is nothing to gain here and we could have just did the buyout when the trade was made

I believe McGee didn't want to loose any of his money he is owed but is now seeing if he can gain any interest from a contender. If there is no interest he will probably stay a sixer.

On a side note he would be a good fill in at Houston until Dwight is ready.

I heard the news and wanted to start a new thread about it? But I guess it can be settled here:

WHERE IS THE BEST FIT FOR McGEE?

I think it has to be a team that has a strong coach and Bigs to help steady him.

Dallas. If anyone can get something out of him, it's Carlisle and Tyson Chandler.

I thought he wanted to learn young 76ers players how to become better.

Once again, Javale Mcgee could prove that he could be a complete dumbass lol

I understand he wants to go to a contender, but he'll never see any kind of that money again. Unless he's getting like 90% of what's due back to him, he might as well stay... Not sure how much PT he'll get come Playoff time based on his Court IQ

He'd get money again. If he joined a contender and played a big role in anchoring their defense, he'd get a pay cheque after.

McGee just checked into the game against the Pacers. Thought we'd sit him considering we're buying him out.

Would like him on the Clippers. It doesn't make sense for the Sixers to buy him out or for McGee to give up any money tho.

He was waived , he's able to sign with a playoff team .

What if DJ takes offense ala Hibbert vs Bynum?

Bc he didn't want to lose any of his salary. But he's not, so I'd guess he's fine w it now

Haha, I can't even imagine DJ would take it that way being how far McGee has slipped.

This had to be a record year for the most buy outs of players who actually have some talent.

The Mavs are actually interested from what I've heard.

I hope he's that mentally strong but we wouldn't be getting this guy hoping he's a stiff. Once the games begin and he's actually producing, i can see situations where he would cut into djs pt.

I hope toronto is going after him, probably wouldn't hear anything about them until it happened but there is a legitimate need for a backup center and shot blocking, and Masai gave him that deal in the first place.

The Boston Celtics are reportedly close to signing JaVale McGee.
McGee has had a fair share of suitors since being released by the 76ers, but it looks like he'll end up in Celtic green on a deal that will reportedly be through the 2015-16 season. McGee will join a crowded Celtics frontcourt of Tyler Zeller, Brandon Bass, Kelly Olynyk, so the fantasy fallout from this move is more of a downgrade for all four players than it is an upgrade for any.

They just waived him so he got all his money. Philly paid $15M for that 1st rounder.

Not really. It was money they had to spend anyways it's either pay java and get a more than decent pick or pay the roster and get nothing

@WojYahooNBA: McGee returns to market, multiple playoff teams interested. McGee doesn't want to give up freedom for next year, wants player option.

@WojYahooNBA: Most teams want control of McGee next year, if they sign him for rest of '14-15. That way, if he plays well, they have him under contract.

@WojYahooNBA: Boston appealed to McGee because there was a chance to play there, as well as help a team chasing playoffs. Most contenders called on McGee.

@WojYahooNBA: Easier to give list of teams in postseason pursuit who hadn't expressed interest in McGee, which included Cavaliers, Thunder and Clippers.
