I loved watching him play.

Great defender, hard worker on the glass, and fantastic passer.

Hope his family is holding up. That is very young.

I love players like Mason that push the expectations. A sf/pf hybrid who would guard Shaq on one possession then bring the ball up on the next. How many players in NBA history can claim that?

One of my favorite knick players from the 90s. Always impressed with his ball handling skills, toughness, and he always had the coolest designs in his hair..

RIP... Condolences to his family.

"improving". instead of hour to hour, it was day to day.

but seems like it would be too difficult in the end.

Mase was a warrior who brought intensity and toughness to those NYK teams of the 90's. He always supported other NY sports teams as well (like the NY Rangers in particular), which I also admired. RIP

Sudden. RIPHe had been in poor health for some time. Weird though that his mother recently turned 90.

sad. Loved the guy. Huge beast who would rebound, then dribble the ball up hopping around ***** slapping anyone who tried to stop him.

Old school player. RIP Mase

Heart problems really hit home for me, I was pulling for this guy but I knew I was kidding myself. RIP Mason. I never forget the innovators of the game. No star but a VERY unique player in history.

RIP Mase. Easy to respect that man. True warrior till the end. It's sad so many people get their lives cut short. My prayers go out to his family and loved ones.

He and Oakley are my all-time favorite Knicks. I met him once when I was younger. I was really nervous and scared because I figured he would be the mean guy I saw on the court, but he turned out to be as nice as could be.

RIP

Has there ever been a player with as unique a skillset as Mase? Maybe if Ron Artest was a little bulkier and played point forward. RIP Mase. Embodied a Knick era that fans still cling to and salivate over today.

Yeah,I agree. He had a unique way of playing the game and a more bulkier Artest is a fitting comparison.

RIP Mason.

Getting reminded of my own age the hard way, by seeing all my heroes die - one after the other. Rest in peace.

I was really sorry to hear this. Mason was one of those underrated guys who you would have loved having on your team, but you hated facing. He was a pretty solid role player on the Knicks championships run in 94 against the Rockets, although I don't remember the series that well. RIP, man.

RIP.

still bitter that Mason gets a thread in the NBA forum and Stuart Scott didn't but a shame nonetheless. he was a fun one to watch.

Always liked him, thought he was under appreciated his entire career. One of my favorite non superstars of all time.
