View Full Version : GM Revision: Select a player from each draft - 2007

Okay.

I am doing something similar in the MLB section, but I am going to provide a different twist here.

The set up is as follows, you are a GM, and you know the past history of every player up to today. But you get to go back in time, and pretend you have the 16th pick in every draft, and you need to assemble the best roster that you possibly can.

Anyone that was in the first 15 picks does not count. You have to choose the best player that will fill your roster correctly and try to build the most competitive team possible. Remember, players must be able to play the position that you assign them to and must have played multiple minutes in multiple appearances at that position in the NBA to qualify for that position.

Here is how it works:

We are starting in 2003. The first fifteen players are already off the board, and you have the 16th pick, in real life Boston took Troy Bell. But you get to have the privelege of hindsight and get to select whoever you think will help you build the best possible roster.

When you finish, and get to the 2014 NBA draft, we will see who we believe would have the most competitive roster assembled. Note, you can take someone that was an undrafted free agent as well, like a Jeremy Lin, but you need to take him in the year that he would have been drafted, for Lin that would be 2010. I will post up to 29 possible selections, and you can select an Other, but please tell us who you would have taken.

Each poll will last 3 days, and then we will go on to the next year.

It's pretty fun when you have no idea (at least, off the top of your head) which players are available over the course of the game. Had I known M. Gasol was available this year, i would've thought more about the Gortat selection i had

Yeah. I remembered a couple of point guards that are going to be available in later years, and I kind of wish I had taken Millsap instead of Lowry. But I'm happy with this start.

Hmmm i'm trying to ponder about upcoming drafts where there's a PG available out of the lottery that is better than Lowry, or at least comparatively so. I won't name any players, but right now i can't think of one that i'd start over Lowry. If Millsap was in the same draft as West then I'd swap them, but i like my team thus far.

yeah, I glanced at the upcoming drafts a few times before I started and while there might be some serviceable guys, I don't think any of them come close to Lowry and how he's been playing the last two seasons.
