Going to have some fun here. Going to redo the MLB draft every year starting in 1990.

The rules:

You get to select one player, first overall. Who do you select knowing what you know today of each players careers? You get to keep this player for their entire careers.

The goal:

From 1990-2014. You need to have a full roster of the each player you have selected. So position will begin to matter after 25 seasons of selections (note, 25 positions, 25 seasons).

So if you take Chipper Jones this year, he is either your third basemen or your left fielder for the entirety of this. Or he can be a bench guy, but you only have so many of those spots. Guys can only be placed in roster spots that they actually played at in their careers. I.e. you can't make Chipper a catcher or a second basemen. A pitcher had to have actually come out of the bullpen in the regular season in their careers to qualify for a reliever role.

Keep track of the guys you select, and fill out your roster as we go.

A player can only be taken in the draft in which they were signed. For example, Gerrit Cole can only be drafted in 2011, not in 2008, as he didn't sign with the Yankees that year.

There is no DH, but, you can draft 12 or 13 position players, as long as you take the opposite on pitchers (12 or 13) for a total of 25 players. The DH, can simply be an extra bench hitter.

2005 MLB Draft:
1. Justin Upton - 20.0 rWAR
2. Alex Gordon - 28.6
3. Jeff Clement - -1.2
4. Ryan Zimmerman - 34.3
5. Ryan Braun - 36.0
7. Troy Tulowitzki - 37.6
10. Cameron Maybin - 8.8
11. Andrew McCutchen - 33.2
12. Jay Bruce - 14.3
23. Jacoby Ellsbury - 24.4
25. Matt Garza - 15.2
28. Colby Rasmus - 13.2
42. Clay Buchholz - 13.0
60. Travis Wood - 7.5
66. Chase Headley - 21.6
73. Kevin Slowey - 4.6
75. Yunel Escobar - 23.0
109. Brett Gardner - 23.1
118. Jeremy Hellickson - 6.9
205. Michael Brantley - 13.2
209. Jon Niese - 7.4
259. Austin Jackson - 20.3
852. Sergio Romo - 7.9

A lot of sleepers available later in this draft, if you feel like looking more up.

Something to consider, you will want your 2015 Opening Day roster to also look at competitive as possible.

Something just occurred to me.

Alex Rodriquez was such an amazing player that in planning out this draft I never even had a second thought about including Tulo, whatsoever. He never even came to mind.

Funny thing, McCutchen is just as talented as Tulo.

Going to add to the bullpen here. While Cutch is who I really wanted, but I will be going with another CF & RF yet to be drafted. Also have ManRam in LF. So passing on Cutch doesnt look that bad.
