I am still a big fan of Ariza's defense. I was falling in love with him at the start of the season when he was draining 3 point shot after 3 point shot. He seems to have plummeted offensively, but kept his really good defense which has given the Rockets a tremendous advantage this season. Looking back at his first stint with Houston, the numbers are fairly similar.

My question is: Which year has Ariza helped the Rockets more?

2009-2010
36.5 [minutes]
.394 [FG %]
.334 [3-PT %]
.649 [FT %]
5.6 [rebounds]
3.8 [assists]
0.6
1.8 [steals]
14.9 [points]

[B]2014-2015
35.8 [minutes]
.379 [FG%]
.335 [3-PT %]
.860 [FT %]
5.4 [rebounds]
2.3 [assists]
0.2 [blocks]
2.0 [steals]
12.6 [points]

2010 Ariva is my favorite example of you cant just magically take a championship teams 4th/5th option and expect him to become a teams' go-to/2nd option. He failed miserably that year coming off his title with the Lakers.

Yup. He wanted to prove that he could be "The Guy". He proved quite the opposite. I think that year and the next few made him realize what most people already knew or at least figured: He's a role player. It's nice that he's putting up similar numbers (pretty identical in certain stats) and now he's one of the "other options" to Harden and Dwight (when he's healthy).
