How are American kids being overlooked exactly? There are what, 10 hyped up Cuban players and a handful of Japanese and Korean players, compared to the hundreds of Americans drafted every year.

Agree. It will happen soon.

I feel they are being overlooked cause of the population trending in the mlb .it's turning more international.again I'm not being offensive I'm just saying I feel our kids should have this spotlight more

Jesus Christ man, how are they being overlooked. I'm not insinuating that all the talent is in the international market at all but having the mindset that they should consider American kids first because it's America's game is absurd.

72.8% of baseball players were born in the US (http://i.imgur.com/7r8p9nR.png).

Next highest is the Dominican Republic with a whopping 10.3%.

Chill with the xenophobia.

I feel like I see this ignorant thread once every couple of years. The best players in the world play in MLB, period. If you live in Florida, or Cuba, or a chunk of ice off the coast of Antarctica scouts will find you.

How many are drafted every year compared to the international free agents? There's no way American kids are being overlooked.

Doesn't this method benefit the larger market teams significantly more than small markets? From a player's standpoint, I am behind it, but I don't like the idea of eliminating the draft and giving teams like the Yankees and Dodgers free reign to outspend everyone by a mile.

Lets just go to 1 draft like hockey. All talent in one pool BOOM win win

International free agent should be subject to a draft with slotted money
