Duncan and CP3 would be at the top for me, and then the Gasol brothers. I think Noah and Horford are pretty good, and Anthony Davis seems to have it in spades and will get better with time.

When it comes to rebounding, I got you a 100%. He knows the best position and has great awareness.

I personally love watching older guys who would have to retire if it wasn't for their smarts. Guys who can no longer jump over a shoeless or run past a turtle but beat you with smart positioning, footwork, fakes etc...

Duncan, Wade, Kurt Thomas a few years back, Shawn Marion etc...

Calderon. It's too bad he wasn't blessed with an ounce of athleticism. Amir Johnson. Other smart guys.

Boris diaw
Al horford- pretty rare to see a center with an almost 3:1 assist to turnover ratio

Andre Miller is still in the league, right? He's who I thought of when I looked at this thread, and this description totally fits him.

He isn't a very good player and completely lacks athletisism, but I always hear about how much video Chuck Hayes watches on upcoming teams and see him working almost as an extra coach at times. I think he is probably a very smart guy and will be a coach after he is done playing.

LeBron's IQ is overrated. He makes plenty of horrible decisions but makes up for it with his athleticism and the occasional referee.

I bet the real answer is some sad mofo who has been on the bench for years and hardly plays.. He's only even in the NBA because of his smarts, definately not his athleticism. Kind of in the mold of Luke Walton haha

Good answers! I'm glad somebody brought up Chuck Hayes. That guy works his tail off, or at least he did with Houston. Another guy who just retired is Battier. He just seemed so prepared on each play, always knew where to be.

I don't want to know LBJ, because he's the best player in the game, but I think you are right. He's got good basketball IQ, but it's not where you see CP3 or the Gasol boys at. But his size and athleticism are huge.

There are a lot of guys like Kobe, LBJ, Wade.... who have good basketball IQs, but not great ones like Magic and Bird had. Kobe LBJ and Wade really on their skill (which they each have in spades) and agility, and in LBJ's case size as well. Their BB IQs are good, but they each make mistakes that guys like Bird, Magic, Jordan and Stockton wouldn't make with such frequency. Not meants as a know because all those guys are legends, but just because you are hte best player in the league doesn't mean you have the best BB IQ.

I disagree. I think his athletic ability overshadows his IQ, but he plays the game the right way. I think he can be a bit lazy, but to me it seems like he is many times a step or two ahead of everyone else. I don't think any player plays the game the right way more than he does. He rarely forces anything. Yes he makes mistakes, but usually he is trying to make the right play. He really knows how to position himself on the court to force the defense to make a move that will allow himself to score or allow his teammate to easily score. He keeps the ball moving and always hits the open man. I could agree on the effort not being there all the time, but besides Chris Paul, I really don't see anyone consistently attempting to make the right play more than him.

PG: CP3 / TP / Mike Conley (HM to Curry and Wall... who has a very underrated IQ)

SG: Kobe / Wade / Harden (Kobe does not always use it, but his BBIQ is still ridiculously high)

SF: Pierce / Lebron / Durant

PF: Duncan / Dirk / KG / Gasol

C: Gasol / Bogut / Noah

If I scoured through the thread I'd probably find some names I missed, but those are the first that come to mind.
