Boston is nearing an agreement to send Jeff Green to Memphis for Tayshaun Prince and a first-round pick, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Get it done Danny.

Seems like a win win. Green isn't amazing but is better than prince at this point and Boston gets another 1st and expiring.

That makes what like 10 1st round picks in the next 5 years?

Yes, at least. It can be 11 if Minny makes the playoffs next year (very unlikely to happen).

Ya I just posted its likely 2nd rounders in the other thread (at least wolves will have some extra fans next year though haha).

These trades just add to what is a lot of future ammo for a rebuilding team. Boston really could make a turn around in a couple years if everything goes right (draft a couple good players next two years), trade future picks for an all star level player and sign one too. Lots of flexibility with that many assets.

Doc Rivers is on suicide watch right now. Either that, or hes going to murder Hawes.

Tayshaun Prince and protected future first-round pick to Boston -- most likely not going to Celts before 2019 -- proves enough to land Green

If Miami can squeeze in, trade Deng, and get back good assets, I wouldn't mind taking in Green and giving Deng to Memphis. Boston has assets that the Heat would like.

why?

I'm fine with a good amount but when you have so many I would like for a player that could blossom into a star so trade those extra picks for someone. Philly been stockpiling a bunch and not even using it for anything.

That all depends on how the celtics draft though. I would like them to package their picks together and move up into drafts as well as use a couple to get some good vets.

Trade certainly helps, Role for Green is perfect for who he is. Good wing scoring fourth option on the team.

Before Rondo got traded he was actually very consistent this year. I think he scored in double figure in every game before the Rondo trade. He should fit well in Mem. They don't need him to be the man.

Having more picks doesn't make you a good team, having more early picks can, having that many picks seems like overkill, I'm going to assume they will move up in the draft

They'll have to get rid of some of those picks, because they aren't even going to have enough roster spots to draft that many players.

2019 picks, while they could be value because the sending team's core may be done, doesn't really help as much as a 15-16 pick. Young and Smart will be entering their 4th years and looking for contracts. Sully and Olynyk are going to be in their 5th/6th years.

I dunno. I wouldn't have any interest in 2019 picks unless it was a last resort.

Yeah, but im saying that isn't the year we're targeting, we took it because it's what we could get for him.

Maybe we'll be able to use them to trade for established players when the time is right, but picks in the next two years are much more valuable imo.

I guess we'll see. There's so many assets that we need to play out just to be back to a mediocre 5-6 seed.

Sure, as long as your #5, #3, #2, and #1 can handle the rebounding load, because Green is a pathetic rebounder at the #4.
