This isn't a thread for "Lakers vs Celtics" or "Bulls vs Pistons" from the old days, because those rivalries are all but comatose right now. Let's try and figure out what the best current rivalry that is alive and well in the league. The first one that pops into my head is the Mavericks and Spurs. Agree, disagree? Suggestions? Go!!!

Matter.

I would also say Spurs - Mavs. Ton of history there. LeBron vs Joakim Noah works for me as well.

Lebron vs Bulls even better :) during the Bulls/Cavs game 2 weeks ago it was said that Lebron has a worst record vs the Bulls in his career than any other team.

I'm not sure about the Raptors/Knicks though. Can you explain that one Matter?

Clippers/GSW

They clearly hate each other especially after the playoffs last year

Nets vs Knicks...hahahahahahhahaha. I hate when people claim that's a rivalry when the games are almost always terrible

Rockets vs Mavs will be a good one this year
Clippers vs Warriors is a good one

I think OKC vs Memphis is an underrated one too

I like the OKC vs MEM suggestion, those games are always great and a battle of different styles of play

I thought Bulls vs Heat has been great especially since 'the decision' I'll be interested to see how that goes with no Lebron and Deng on the Heat.

Clippers Warriors is probably #1

Milwaukee vs Brooklyn will be fun to watch for a while. I always liked the Phoenix vs LA rivalry, too. Except for the part where Phoenix always lost.

I really like Memphis vs OKC.
Mavs vs Spurs. Always great games.

East....Chicago/Cleveland was starting to heat up before LeBron left so that could get going.

Would like to see a physical Cleveland/Wizards even though it's a totally different Wizards team.

The word 'rivalry' has become obsolete in the NBA.

It's not really a rivalry when only one of the teams goes to the playoffs.

Mavs vs Spurs. They just play like it is the last game of a 7 series Finals everytime they met in the playoffs.

It's not really a rivalry when only one of the teams goes to the playoffs. or when nobody cares about one of the teams even when they are in the playoffs :)

More like no one wants to watch a Special Ed group try and draw triangles.

No longer a rivalry imo. Same goes with Indiana. We had a "mini rivalry" going, but with a depleted roster it just doesn't feel the same. Bulls don't have a "true" deeply engrained rival that has transcended generations. Their rivals seem to change every few years or so.

Spurs and Heat are the only legit rivalry I see. I don't consider mediocre teams that don't like each other a rivalry....

My top three right now would probably be:
1. Lebron's team vs. Bulls
2. Warriors vs. Clippers
3. The whole Texas triangle vs. one another

Raps and Nets should be pretty good after last year. Playoffs were about as close as you can get, GM said F Brooklyn, Nets tanked for TOR, they're battling for the Atlantic this year.

As for the war of words though it's TOR and NYK on here. On the court not so much, Knicks need to get better first.

Kings and Clippers, their games have been pretty competitive over the last few years.

Steve Ballmer was also the guy that wanted to buy the Kings so bad that he even donated money to a group that tried to sabotage the Sacramento arena deal by speading lies about the cons of building it
