View Full Version : Bench Player Challenge

Construct a 10 man rotation with legitimate bench players (not bench players who play with starter minutes). Use last seasons minutes per game and make sure your players DO NOT exceed 24 minutes per game. Consider team chemistry/needs/roles when filling your roster out (the most talented squad won't necessarily be the best squad in competition).

Predict how many wins you would have in an NBA regular season. Compare and contrast with others. Have fun. :)

***New rule change!!!***

1.) No Spurs players.
2.) Majority of games must come off bench last season.

Commonly used players that are not allowed to be listed:

Vince Carter - 24.4 mpg last season
Tony Allen - started 28 of 55 games (more than half)

PG -- Greivas Vasquez | Nate Robinson
SG -- Tim Hardaway Jr. | Anthony Morrow
SF -- Draymond Green | Mike Miller
PF -- Amare Stoudemire | Mason Plumlee
C -- Omer Asik | Chris Kaman

Amare gets to be the #1 option again. Asik protects him defensively. Vasquez will be the best passing PG he's had since Nash, sadly. Wings are mostly for spacing, Green can create some though. Nate is energizer off bench.

I predict... 42-45 wins in the west, 50+ wins in the east.

Three of your starters don't qualify as sub 24 minute guys.

You can pick career minutes at or below 24 mpg or use last season's minutes. Should I change it so they have to be subs only?

The career minutes thing defeats purpose

In the rules I stated you can use starters but they have to have career minutes or last season minutes at or below 24. I think I will make them subs ONLY to make it more fair.

It's all good, you have a point in that it defeats the purpose. I updated the rules. Thanks for the input! :)

I like all your starters alot other then Hardaway Jr whose defense is just way too terrible for me to want to include. Asik seemed like cheating to me since he was a proven starter in a terrible position last year but he's definitely the best Center that qualifies.

my guess for wins is probably around 35-40ish.

I love Morris and Johnson is cool, but Allen and Carter don't qualify.

Why doesn't Carter qualify? 24mpg last season off the bench and 26 the season before that. Allen came off the bench in 27/55 games and played 23mpg but I can see why he wouldn't qualify.

Carter = 24.4 mpg (I know, sucks lol)
Allen = 28/55 games (more than 50%)

I love Kaman as the back up. He's a good rebounder and low post scorer. Tim hardaway and Nate Robinson are the only ones I'd change personally.

35 wins in the west, 41 in the east sounds about right.

Blair was a good pick. I forgot about him. Ultra productive in limited minutes.
