View Full Version : Kobe Bryant is 49 bricks away from all-time record

Something that hasn't been brought up in the news for some reason. Kobe Bryant is about to break John Havlicek's most field goal attempts missed record (aka most bricks in NBA history) in the regular season.

If you include the playoffs he already owns the record. But for the regular season he's 49 bricks away. If he plays another season he may set a record that will be as unbreakable as Wilt's 100.

What are your opinions of him potentially reaching this milestone?

So? Brett Favre has the INT record and TD record (until 2 weeks ago) he's a GOAT. Just like Kobe will have the points and misses record. Longevity

Well, this was one of the most predictable things in sports. I get the if you play long enough excuse, but I don't buy it when its the first record you break. If he were to break shot attempts record first, or the most points first, or most makes first, then you could look at it as a plus. The fact that he's going to break misses first highlights his inefficient chucker ways. This also highlights why there are a plethora of other players that are better than him at his best attribute...scoring.

Who cares?

Know who else is on that list? Elvin Hayes, Dominique Wilkins, Oscar Robinson, Allen Iverson, Elgin Baylor, Alex English...Some all time greats.

I think everyone has at least 5 QB's comfortably ahead of Farve
1.Montana
2.Manning
3.Brady
4.Young
5.Marino
6.Elway

I got them ahead easily.

And much of that has to do with Farve's propensity for throwing picks, just as there are people ahead of Kobe because of his propensity for high volume misses.

not a big deal, he is one of the greatest volume scorers of all time, and played forever. Bound to happen, just as his climbing in the scoring books goes along with it.

He does kinda remind me of the Favre of the NBA to be honest. Just sheer volume on his numbers.

You can fool teams for 2 or 3 years, but it would be really hard to go for almost two decades as the #1 option if you weren't good. Eventually poor shooters get demoted and don't get enough attempts to get on a list like this.

I guess this is something to bring up if people are still claiming he's better than MJ.

Other than that, there's no doubt Kobe is one of the greatest to ever touch a basketball. Anyone suggesting otherwise probably has never touched a basketball.

I think he can break it in 5. If he tries hard maybe 3 or 4.

That sounds reasonable

4 at most

That would be on the pace he's been on.

I have to think he'll shoot better sometime? IDK

How many Kobe threads are there?

Besides this one is relevant because he's about to set an all-time record (that likely won't be broken).

Yeah because this record is so highly regarded and everyone in the world will be watching. I wonder if espn will have a tracker.

How is anyone hating on Kobe?

If anything we're celebrating him.

Well, Basketball is a team sport. Some guy named Shaq certainly helped. Also there was another guy called Pau who contributed as well.

What was I trying to do?

All I've ever done is bring facts. The fact is Kobe is 49 missed shots (bricks for short) away from setting the all-time record currently held by John Havlicek.

Kobe is about to break a record, and set an unbreakable record by the end of this year, and next year (if he chooses to play).

That's not hating. That's celebrating him.

Pretty sure Kobe's got the most perimeter oriented game of anyone in the top ten for points. Basically means if Jordan had better range, his stats would look identical. You can shoot a much lower % when attempting more threes and be helping your team than if you're shooting closer to the basket. Not even just based on your net points, but also in ways that don't show up in the stats like spacing the floor for your teammates.

I actually like Kobe. I respect Kobe. And I am very impressed by what he has been able to do at his age, especially after an injury of that nature.

Facts are fact though. Like this one. Here is another fact. Lebron sucked big time against Dallas in the finals. It was an embarrassment.

If its a fact its a fact, and crying about it won't change it. Kobe is about to break a record, and lock it up for all time. Its a fact bro. Now do you want to keep crying about the fact?

I didn't get mad when people said he sucked in the finals against Dallas. I was leading the charge and agreeing with anyone who said it. You Kobe fans are so sensitive. He's was a great player who is about to set a record none will ever break. He is the greatest misser in history. That cannot be denied. Nobody is better at that them him. It is what it is.
