Dont know why its a stupid question. Because the lakers will be in top 5 until 2016 not lf not longer. Not less they can sign Monroe which I like young give you 18 and 11 will at least be a start. PG wise theres Players like R.Jackson, Rondo, B.Knight coming up. Rondo to old imo. You can add Leonard to the list. Everybody else is signed. This team this year hopefully can get no.1 pick. Just wondering if we had 2015 pick. Because the lakers will be in top 5 for at least a few years.

The Reggie Jackson thing is interesting. How much do you offer him? Keep in mind he will be a restricted free agent.

Jackson
Bryant
filler
Randle
Okafor (Duke)

What would you think of a line up like that next year?

To answer the question, our pick to Phoenix is top 5 protected in 2015, top 3 protected in 2016, and unprotected in 2017, so we are guaranteed to give up our pick by 2017 at the very latest (not sure what would happen with the 2017 pick we owe Orlando then).

My feeling is Philly gets #1 and takes Okafor. What do we know about Mudiay, who's playing in China now? Seems to be a tall PG and candidate for a high draft position. Would the Lakers rather go for one of the other bigs?

if Philly takes Okafor thats ridiculous! They just drafted Nerlens Noel 2 years ago and then Joel Embiid, why on earth would they need another PF/C?! Unless its strictly trade bait.. and in that case Nerlens has to have a fairly decent year so that he has better trade value, because I HIGHLY doubt they will give up Embiid. If I was in philly's shoes i would probably take mudiay and move him to SG.

If Okafor proves to be the clear cut number 1 then they will probably take him and trade one of those guys. Never hurts to have too many assets.

It seems like there's a slew of bigs available next year. I'd much rather LA take a big because they're so difficult to get. Unless some perimeter player proves to be LBJ or KD, a big is a better gamble.

If we keep our pick this year, we will owe PHX our 2016 pick if it falls outside of the top 3.

Exactly. Just because CLE had/were getting Lebron didn't stop them from picking Wiggins over Embiid.

Haha well they didn't know they were getting Lebron at that point (or did they?) but I see your point.

I've said it before and it's more than likely the case (after we get most of the guys back), this team will not be in the bottom 5. We will lose our first round pick unless some miracle trade that's pulled off before the end of trade deadline this season.

Incorrect. It only looks like a bad deal to us idiots, but Mitch's genius is so advanced that the rest of us lack the ability to comprehend what he is doing. He's working 100 moves ahead of any other GM. He's like the Kasparov of GM-ing.

Pick Swaps
2015 Owed first-rounder (lottery protected in 2015, top-10 protected in 2016 & 2017, top-5 protected in 2018 & 2019, top-3 protected in 2020, unprotected in 2021) from Houston Rockets (Jeremy Lin).
2015 Owed second-rounder (only in the 51 to 55 range) from Los Angeles Clippers (Hassan Adams, David Andersen, Jeremy Lin).
2015 Owe first-rounder (top-five protected, top-three protected through 2017, unprotected in 2018) to Phoenix Suns (Steve Nash).
2015 Owe second-rounder (top-40 protected) to Orlando Magic (Dwight Howard).
2017 Owe first-rounder (top-five protected through 2018, unprotected in 2019) to Orlando Magic (Dwight Howard). If 2015 first-rounder not sent to Phoenix by 2017, pick to Orlando converts to 2017 and 2018 second-rounders.

who are "most of the guys"?

there is only 1 guy out now that is coming back (young).... do you think there won't be more injuries.

the logic in here is laughable

I'm hoping for a top 5 pick this coming summer, sign quality players in FA, and the Suns can have a ****** 1st round pick in 2016. All pipe dreams.

We'll be outside the "top" 5 lottery teams, give the 2015 pick to the Suns, and not sign anybody worth a damn because nobody wants to play with Kobe. Jim, Jeanie, Mitch, and Kobe have ruined this franchise for the foreseeable future. They're all about money and Kobe's personal achievements for the next couple years.

Even if the Lakers get a top 5 pick this year we are going to suck in 2015/16.... we need to make sure we suck so that phoenix pick goes to 2017 which then turns the Orlando pick into 2 seconds

That would be fantastic but I don't have faith that Jim and Mitch could see that plan through. They even suck at tanking.

actually, if they swing for the Big FA again next offseason and miss it will be the same kind of roster except with 2 more rookies and the better role players from this year will leave.... they cycle is set until the Lakers convince a quality FA to come to LA

No way i am not a fan of tanking. They should tank this season only because they failed in the off season and as a result they suck. If they miss the playoffs and fail to land in the top 5 draft and it goes to the Suns it would set them back. Thats it this season only never fall in love with tanking. Two 1st round picks, Randle, Clarkston, Kelly plus a second round pick is enough. You then target Greg Monroe in the summer and also make trades this season for next season.

There is a possibility that we have four picks in the 2015 draft. We keep our first round pick if it is within 1-5. We get the Rockets first round pick if it is 15-30. We keep our second round pick if it is 31-40. We get the Clippers second round pick if it is 51-55.

Summary:

Top 5 pick, Mid-late 20's pick, early 2nd round pick, mid 50's pick.

Cool, four picks! Mitch would probably use them to reacquire Nash :(
