Haven't seen him play and I know he missed the entire season last year but there was a lot of hype when he was in college about NBA potential. Do you think he'll live up to it. I hope so. Anthony Davis has been such a huge player and continues to impress. Would be great for some sort of rivalry going into the future for some years to come.

No. Doesn't have his offensive skills.

Noel's peak is Mutombo in my opinion.

Davis was a combo guard when he started high school, his vision and touch for the ball is very rare for someone his size. Noel has the potential to be a really, really solid player, but I dont think his natural skillset and ability come close to Davis.

Noel is a defensive specialist who is only now starting to develop a mid range jumper. Playing on the break he's a fantastic finisher who seems to have good hands, but I don't think you can count on him to have either a face-up or back-to-the-basket game. Anthony Davis is far more well rounded.

Anthony Davis is his own type of player.. The guy is unreal with sky high potential

If Noel had Anthony Davis upside he would have went one in the draft regardless of his injury.

I think Noel could be a great defensive player with at best 15 PPG

Noel has the same reboudning, defense, and shot blocking potential as Davis but offense is really far apart. He has at least learned how to shoot a jumper and is really good at taking his man off the dribble and has been showing a little sky hook in pre season that he looks comfortable with. but all of that is still so raw he ahs a ways to go but he will be a high impact player starting tonight and i think he can avg a double double with 2+ blks and steals

No one knows; for the people who said Mutombo thats doing him an injustice. Mutombo had a serviceable low post game. To me Noel can be like a Tyson Chandler and has potential to be an AD like player but he has to put in the work. As of right now i have to say no

No. Embiid is more AD-like potential.

Noel is more Mutombo, Chandler, maybe Joakim Noah. But his athleticism may trump all three of those guys. But he's a stick right now. Has a long way to go with his frame. Gonna take a few years for him to properly build up his body

No. Noel doesn't have near the offensive capability to be Anthony Davis.

He's a defensive specialist, and what makes him special is his mobility for a man with his height and wingspan.

Throughout the preseason, he showed a remarkable ability to strip ballhandlers with that long reach of his.

In his last game against the Pistons he recorded 5 blocks and 5 steals. He's got such quick hands that opposing guards don't expect him to reach in and swipe the ball. They should become wiser to that though once people start scouting him more.

He is very agile and and covers so much ground on defense that I can't really think of a proper comparison for him.

I'd say he's closer to Serge than Mutumbo, but I think Noel has more potential as a man to man defender. He's much more than a shotblocker.

But no, he'll never be an Anthony Davis type because he doesn't have go-to post moves nor does he have a midrange shot (though he's working on it).

The combination of Noel and a traditional center like Embiid is VERY intriguing though. Can't wait to see the duo in action.

Him and embiid together is a scary thought. But big men usually take awhile to develop and who knows if they'll both be there in 5 years

I think noels offense is being underrated here. He'll be better than chandler. Unfortunately i dont trust his body at all. Theres a reason he fell so far in a draft with little talent.

You can get a good sense of the type of player Noel is from these preseason highlights:

vs the knicks (note the score, it's gonna be a looong season)

vs the bobcats

On the drive to the basket in the Knicks highlight that is wayyyy more mobile than Mutombo and more skilled than Chandler. I think he can be better offensively. I thought Blake Griffin was one-dimensional at the beginning (only spectacular dunks) and he has really developed well.

**** no, not even close.

Best case scenario for Noel is Serge Ibaka. Worst case scenario for Anthony Davis is MUCH more offensively skilled version of Ibaka. Best case scenario for Davis? Tim Duncan.
