Man this guy is gunna be something

26 points, 17 rebounds, 9 blocks, 3 steals and 2 assists

So, all that preseason hype about Anthony Davis elevating his game into the next stratosphere and establishing himself as a bona fide superstar? He waited all of 90 seconds into the 2014-15 NBA season before beginning to deliver on that promise.

Not surprised in the least. You could see this kid was that next surefire superstar before he got drafted.

C'mon.. Let's let him establish this until All Star break before we proclaim him the next big thing. To be honest, this stat line was impressive but that's like saying Vucevic's 23 rebounds/15 points = Wilt..

Durability is the only thing that will hold him back, he has characteristics of Duncan/KG.

I wonder which team he will sign to in 2017, I just don't see him continuing his career as a "Pelican"

He needs to come to NY.

He actually reminds me of Drob. Both were 2 guards and had a 7 inch growth spurt in a year. he's 2-3 inches shorter but his athletic ability is right there.

I don't deny the kid is talented but every time the Kings (my team) have gone against him he seems to be missing an edge that strikes fear into me like many other super stars. When Dirk Nowitzki or Chris Paul I'm like "Oh S**t, not this guy again", i just don't get that feeling from Davis. I feel the same way about Dwight Howard. Maybe I have a lack of appreciation for defense or something.

This is the same case for me. While I think he has crazy potential and is certainly a top 10 player, he doesn't have much of a case when you truly think about it. He's not relied on to lead a team - yet. He's still young so I understand that but that's where NBA fans need to understand as well. He's great at putting up great numbers but let me know when that translates into elevating his team to the playoffs. Until then, I'm not buying into him being a top 5 player.

I feel the same way too, but these statlines make me feel as though that will change very quickly

Kevin Love never made the playoffs and was a top 5-7 player

People post good stat lines against bad teams, it's nothing new. Hell, did you see Vucevic's line?

ummm hi. aren't you sort of beating your own argument here? the pelicans are a very solid team. a big game is a big game - period.

No, because I don't believe the Pelicans are solid. That's what I was implying by referencing Vucevic. But you're right, it was a big game, let's make threads about all of them..

fair enough. i think they are definitely a solid young team. and i didn't suggest we should have threads every time someone has a big game. but someone did, and so here we are.

I hope Line of the Night carries on this year. Obviously we have our first winner with AD.

Can anyone remember who did that?

EDIT: Just seen JJH has done the first one of the year.

I don't watch any games of his but I really thought his scoring would take a little longer to develop coming out of college. Damn, regardless of who it was against that is a good stat line.

Well I'm pretty Sure the Pelican are going to match whatever offer he gets in 2017 seeing as how he is a RFA.

43 rebounds between Davis, Asik and Anderson.

It was a blowout but at least Nikola put up 17/23/4blks. Magic have a lot of potential with him and Harris.

drafted him in my auction keeper league. he's going to be my keeper for the next 3 years. $77 well spent.

but yea...him, asik, and ryan anderson are going to be dangerous. best front court in the NBA imo. always knew Asik is a good fit next to Davis but New Orleans fans on this forum disagreed with me and bashed me for suggesting it. they also called Asik trash. wonder what they think now?

Most of his scoring is as a hustle guy. It's not like he's just beating his defender.

Funny to see Asik and Anderson play together. Last year when Howard arrived in Houston, Asik was put aside and got really disgruntled. A much-discussed plan was to switch him with Anderson. In that case, Houston would get a stretch 4 to pair with Howard, Pelicans would get a defensive anchor to relieve the burden of Davis. Win win. But it didnt come to fruition. According to rumors, it was mainly because Morey asked for too much in return.
With the addition of Asik, this Pelicans frontcourt is so formidable, which, if the backcourt can keep healthy, will gain them a playoffs spot, even though the west is brutally stacked and tough.

Davis; Hand Length - 9, Hand width - 8.50

For comparison sake, that's the same width as Jimmer Fredette.
