Phil's presence in NY is bringing a lot of nostalgia for the 70's teams. As a knick fan its nice to learn about these guys and have them welcomed back to the garden. Here is Willis Reed going totally gangster

I was about to post this, amazing footage. Forgot the back story behind that but I remember Reed threatening his own teammates to never hold him back again. The raw anger is crazy.

Wonder how many games he'd miss today for this

And thats why they have a no tolerance rule in the NBA. As tough as a lot of Hockey players are, if given the same rules to fight in the NBA, there would be more damage done because the athletes are more freakish, and there on there feet not skates.

By my quick count he threw 6 punches and hit about 4 guys. I can't even imagine what would happen in the modern NBA if that happened. He'd miss at least a season... instead he took a $50 fine.

that guy is terrifying. LOL at people comparing to regular players. I not saying the NBA should let guys just go and it would be all good but it is clear that Willis was a bad man

That's why he was the captain. Who would have the balls to challenge that beast

Indeed it would be. I never tried that though so I can't speak from experience.

Well yeah, thats my point...thats one of the reasons they let you fight in Hockey, and would never allow it in football, basketball, etc.

Can you imagine how many refs would get put in the hospital trying to break up fights?

I watched that game, and what Reed did was truly astounding. Lakers were really pissed at Emmette Bryant. Said Emmette was kicking Lakers players after Reed had knocked them down.

Almost got a repeat performance while Reed was Nets coach.
