View Full Version : How much is Kenneth Faried Worth?

This might be the toughest value to gauge.

High energy defensive minded guy. Didn't Varejao get 6 years 48 mil a few years ago. That now seems like a steal in Today's market.

I think he's worth about 12.5 mil per, but I could see the.. 50 mil, 4 years.

But I could see some team giving him 70 mil over 5 years.

hes not even close to worth 12 mil but he could get it based on all these crazy deals going out

I don't know. He won't be playing for Denver next year though. Calling it now, he's traded before the deadline if Denver aren't sitting pretty as a top 8 seed by that point.

He'll get what Nene got.

As a Nuggets fan, this is really a tough question. From a pure basketball standpoint, the player he is today, he is worth around 10 mil a year. From a marketing perspective however, he could be worth as much as 14 given that he is by far the Nuggets most popular player. With the cap going up, a fair amount of his contract should be under a 15+mil salary cap, so I don't think it will be awful to get him for a 14 mil salary. As a fan though, I don't like signing a guy for an untradeable price. I'd personally be thrilled to see him get 50 mil 4 years. I think that is fair for a guy who has given this team his all.

I think he's worth about 8 per - a Taj type of deal. He's going to end up with 12-13 per though, based on league perception.

8-10, nothing more

Good luck signing him to a bargain contract. In the NBA there's always a market for big men. Only takes one knucklehead gm to over pay.

Yeah, I just don't see him staying in Denver, either.

Who can really help though? The Warriors, The Wolves, Celtics, Nets, maybe the Bucks... That's about it.

i think NBA fans are out of touch with what players are worth. the league is changing, and preparing for an increased salary cap. 12 easily, 'worth it' or not.

asking what a player is worth these days is silly. players get way more than what they are worth. i.e parsons, bledsoe, hayward etc.

Based on Faried before the all-star break last year 8-10 mil

Based on Faried post all star break and Fiba 14-15+ mil

we simply don't know who he is yet, needs another half season to prove that his breakout wasnt a fluke

As a Denver fan who has adamantly believed he would be traded for the past 2 years it is starting to definitely look like he will be locked up long term

HOWEVER, I don't think this was their plan A, or B, or even C, (total strikeouts on KLove and Bosh being the main ones)

4/50 is the same as 12.5 per year which I would agree with.

No team except the one with his bird rights can give him 5 years.

I see somewhere in the neighbourhood of 4/50-56 depending on his season this year.

As far as him being in Denver or not he will be an RFA so they can match any offer. So it really depends on how their season goes. If Gallo is healthy they could be really good this year. A wing rotation of Afflalo, Chandler and a healthy Gallinari has a lot of potential. Last year was brutal for them in terms of injuries.

how so? your worth is generally what the market demands.10-13 mil per under the coming deal isnt nearly the same as it was 5-10 years ago,and all those players you named are good players, and are somewhat rare in the value/impact they bring(sure, they arent stars, but they are just below that)

Agreed on the 12.5 mil and RFA bit.

As for Denver, a lot has to go right, and I just don't see that happening, and this is coming from a Nuggets fan, so not bashing here. But with Houston, SA, OKC, Clips, Portland and Golden State. I don't see them getting in higher than a 7th seed even if they play great ball. I would love them to, but that is tough.

On the flip side, I think they may be more fun to watch this year. Coach Shaw the other day said they want to run more. I guess he finally realized the half court offense going through Faried and JaVale McGee isn't quite how it looked going through West and Hibbert.

The only issue, well not even issue. The only concern (and not a big one, great deal here) I have with his contract is he's a guy who's value would just go dead with a knee injury. If he loses his athleticism I don't see that as a smooth transition lol. no old man game to fall back on.

$ years, 50 mil seems reasonable on context. I think you got his value spot on.

not a great offensive player, but a fantastic defender and rebounder. If he had an offensive game like Z-Bo or Al Jefferson, I'd say he was worth around 15-18, but as a defensive/rebounding specialist, I'd say 12/13 per.

That said... if a team like say OKC, NY or Miami were chasing after him, it would be worth their while to over pay up to 15-18.

People miss this point a lot. If you are going to pry away a restricted free agent, you will have to be willing to pay more than their own team will. Value is very dependent on circumstances (see Roy Hibbert).

Yeah I think you're right. If he can repeat, which it seems like the past few months have been huge, he'll be worth a bit more than everyone thinks. Hopefully he can develop other areas and not just be an expensive hustle guy.

Faried is an energy guy . With that being said he should get 8-11 but he'll get about 13-16

I'm sure this is one of many reasons why NBA players are going to FIBA tournaments. Kenneth may have earned a nice increase from his performance. But, it was all a fluke if you ask me. He played against inferior talent. The only upside to Faried is his ability to be energetic at all times. Though, that is valuable, I hardly think he's going to be much better than he was last year. Against NBA teams, that energetic playing style has it's limits.
