Who would you choose to join your team next year between Melo and Duncan?

Depends on how much they cost and who was on my team. On an ideal team, I'd take Duncan but if I'm looking for a superstar, I'd take Melo.

Tim Duncan is still a superstar. I'd have him on my team than the opposing team.

Last 3 years playoffs

Melo
0.091WS/48
0.114WS/48
and no playoffs for 2014

Duncan
0.184WS/48
0.161WS/48
0.204WS/48

Duncan eats him up for breakfast.

you also have to concede it's easier to be more effective in shorter minutes....

Also easier to be effective when you're surrounded by good players

Also easier to be effective when you have Pop...

So why doesn't Melo explode for those 17 games for 40mpg.
Duncan played 58 games on 34mpg. Tons more basketball. Even if you take into account a 6mpg more for melo, that doesn't explain how tim duncan eclipses his WS/48.

I would rather have Duncan for one more championship run than Melo for the next three years.

Not only is Timmy better but he's cheaper.

Tim Duncan has always been great with or without good players or when Pop wasn't todays Pop.

Tim Duncan hasn't always been 38 years old... Poor logic..

Tim Duncan hasn't always been 38 years old... Poor logic..

His per36 stats haven't changed at all. He actually rebounds better now. He plays less minutes is all that has changed. He still played the most minutes in the playoffs for the spurs. 19 and 10 with great defense and passing abilities.

So who would you pick to be on your team?

Playing more games doesn't mean he gets less rest per game... Duncan isn't the focal point of the offense at this stage in his career while Melo is... Duncan doesn't have to drag the Spurs into the playoffs... Melo does.. don't be such a homer, I hate the Knicks but this is beyond flawed

If Duncan played 36 minutes he wouldn't get those numbers tho... That's the flawed logic.. he's effective because he's allowed to play limited minutes so he stays rested he isn't tiring out playing 40 minutes a game dragging a team to victory

For my current Rockets roster, I'd prefer Duncan

Beverly
Harden
Ariza
Duncan
Howard

Wow this is a tough one!

Melo can't play D, can only score, and can't score well unless he takes a ton of shots. His teams don't win because he is a ball hog and refuses to let the offense be ran.

Jeez, I guess it's a toss up.

Flawed logic. Duncan plays great defense and melo is lacking in that department. Duncan is a playoff warrior while melo is a mental midget.

This all depends on what your team needs. I'm pretty sure Spurs wouldn't be able to transition from Duncan to Melo and be as successful. Their system just doesn't require Melo to fit there. For example, Miami Heat could have probably used Duncan better than they could have with Melo. To be honest, I'd have Duncan IF I had a good team to work with. But if I needed a superstar because I have a very sub-par team, no doubt this is Melo. Can you guys imagine Duncan in the NYK roster having to deal with J.R. Smith and a guy who gets caught with a handgun? He wouldn't even sniff 20 games, tbh. Not to mention Duncan gets to rest whenever he needs to, has a really great supporting cast in that of which he was able to beat the Miami Heat through a collective effort, he has (IMO) the greatest NBA coach ever. Just a difficult situation to compare. But like I said, Duncan provides a lot of things Melo doesn't and that's why I think Duncan would fit better for the majority of the NBA teams.

Duncan as long as he is capable of walking

It seriously depends. A team like the grizz might want Melo over Timmy, since they aready have Zbo and gasol.

Melo for sure no contest especially on the Bulls.

Is this serious? Really??? One dominates the game on both ends, the other is a self-absorbed chucker that has still yet to "learn" how to play basketball.

Melo at this point of their careers easily.

As a die hard Knicks fan, Duncan has been and will be infinitely better than Melo. It's the difference between putting the team before yourself.
