View Full Version : Combining two prime NBA players....

Mix two prime players, one that's retired and one that's currently playing. Project thier new stats on the worse team in the league ie PER/PTS/REB/AST/STL/BLKs etc.. I know it's fantasy but try to make it somewhat reasonable. I'm interested to see what people come up with.. Oh and no Lebron that's too easy. I'll start

Shaq and Dirk

Shaq and Dirk would be unreal. That size and physicality with Dirk's stroke? Lolllll

Dirk and Hakeem would be nice as well.

Garnett and Stockton tickles me. Just running the point through KG's frame the combined inside outside defense with elite playmaking..

I know this sounds weird. But a starting backcourt of a prime MJ & prime Kobe would be awesome. They both can share the ballhandling duties, bringing the ball up court and creating shots for others and clearly for themselves. If those 2 showed up defensively ALL THE TIME...smh...the opposing backcourt would get absolutely mauled on both ends!!!

It's obviously a homer pick, but I'd love to combine Hakeem Olajuwon with Ray Allen/Reggie Miller/Steph Curry. As versatile and skilled as Hakeem was, the one thing he couldn't do was shoot 3-pointers and he was never that efficient a scorer. But if you came him ridiculous accuracy from beyond the arc and the free throw line, he would have been the greatest player in the history of the game.

I don't think you want that. Yao's size is what cut his career so short. Big men that tall have serious wear and tear on their legs and feet. If Kobe was as tall as Yao, his career would have ended like five years ago.

Ya I was thinking that as well but being so offensively dominate I figured double teams would be almost the norm and The Big Dirkness would have to pass to the open man thus resulting in 8 easy AST. Your right neither are elite passing just the fact he would be so offensively gifted you would have to trap and double a lot.

Hakeem Olajuwon's mindset/skill in Shaq's body with Shaq's appetite for destruction

Wilt Chamberlain numbers in a modern era.

50 ppg
30 rpg
4 apg
12 bpg
8 spg

68% fg
75% ft
too easy though

How about David Robinson's body and athleticism with Larry Birds skill and mindset? That would be a freak of a player. Blocking and catching your shot on one end, then nailing a three in transition.

Magic Johnson and Dennis Rodman? The ultimate fast break point guard with the best rebounder in the games skills while playing great defense would be fun to watch.

Allen Iverson in Durant's body would be fun to watch. If iverson didn't have to worry about his shot being blocked, and was a better shooter, he could have been the best scorer of all time. Giving him better range and a more consistent jump shot would let him get more points, but he would still shoot a ton. He'd get to the basket and dunk a lot more too

The ultimate role player? He could hit big shots, and he can do more than one thing defensively now, he'll either get the charge or the blocked shot. Fun times. Derek Fisher has better tattoos than birdman, so hopefully those carry over

I would actually raise the points per page closer to 60. One thing you're forgetting is that The Big Dirkness would also shoot over 90% from the free throw line.

The two players I would like to see combined...
Dennis Rodman and Dwight Howard. He would probably grab literally every single rebound and NO ONE would ever score in the paint.

As far as nickname, there's never been a better nickname than the Worm so I'll just stick with that.

The Magic Fundamental doesn't need jumpshooting.
First he passes the ball and he destroys teams with fastbreaks.
Then he can penetrate and he's a juggernaut.Or he can go to the post and probably win a lot of matchups.
He has all skills on D,he can shoot fts,he's the most versatile player on the court,he's a terrific rebounder,he's a natural leader and he makes his teammates better.
He's ice cold in the playoffs and he has great longevity.
He's humble and funny at the same time.

But above all,the rule is that you can mix two players: one active, one retired. So Jabbar+Jordan is unfair.

The key in this make believe situation is to get to players that are radically different or someone with immense talent with an individual with great work ethic.

C: Shaq + Dirk = 300+ machine w extraordinary work ethic who can shoot anywhere on the floor (65,40,90).
PF: why not take two Shaq/Dirks?
SF: Jordan + KD = Jordan's game, mindset, and hand size with KD's length and shooting.

This iteration of LeBron (most of the mental/winner crap has been overcome or disproved) + Steph Curry. LeBron really has one weakness at this point and it's perimeter shooting, which he's even shored up a bit. But add the best three point shot ever and he's unstoppable.

Jordan + Curry works great too for the same reasons.
