Poor 6ers and Bucks. They should've at least been given 1, maybe vs each other to make it a non blowout type game.

Im surprised about the lakers, especially with it being a lotto team next year.

Dallas should have more than Houston.
Detroit gets more games than Memphis :laugh2:

Glad the lakers get 20. People love them or love to hate them. Good to see they're giving them their due, they should get the most due to rev shares lol

Honestly looks about right to me. I think every team should at least have 2 nationally televised games though

I think the whole lakers thing is because of Kobe

IF Kobe has anything left in the tank, this'll be his last year being very productive (IF he's productive...)

Raps, Grizz & Nugz didn't get enough televised games imo

Dade County

HEAT, Knicks, & Portland each have 16 games.

I don't no how to feel about this...

Knicks are a big market team, with Melo.

I guess they think Portland is going to make some noise this season, and from all the articles I have read, 80% think the HEAT will be lucky to make it to the 2nd rd of the playoffs or even win 48games.

I think it's cool that they didn't just drop the HEAT to like 10 prime time games, just because Lbj left.

& I think the Rockets should have more then Golden State or even.

And I wonder which teams took some of the Pacers National games.

the number one seed in the East last year with a spectacular 5 nationally televised games.

This is about right.
Everyone wants to either watch the lakers win or lose. With Kobe coming back even tho he's done, JLin and that rookie. People will watch.

I guess it's understandable considering we lost Lance and PG, but I don't know if I will ever agree with the way the league sets up national televised games.

FlashBolt

Last year, Lakers had 25 nationally televised games. Cleveland went from 4 games to 25.

Phoenix got A LOT. Way more than they should.

So did the Lakers. The Suns are "way more" deserving of the 10 games than the Lakers are of the 20 games.

LAL shouldn't have had more than 5. Pathetic that Memphis only has 1.

The lakers and heat have the least amount of back to backs with 16, where other teams have up to as many as 22.
Does anyone else think the league made an effort to give them a more favourable schedule so that they could benefit off the better chances of seeing Kobe and Wade play in more games?
Losing 2 of the leagues super stars will take a lot of money out of their pockets.

It's rigged! Donald sterling should sue over this

kobe.

I don't think it's because of Kobe. I feel like it's because the Lakers have the biggest fanbase in the country and people tune into to see them. Kinda like the Yankees, Cowboys, and Steelers. No matter how good or bad those four teams are, they're gonna be on national TV a good amount of times.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but is anyone else shocked by Atlanta getting only two? They were an entertaining playoff team last year and they're getting their best player back this season. That's also a relatively solid market in Atlanta. I wouldn't be shocked to see that team win 48-50 games this season and they're getting one-tenth the amount of national TV time as a likely lottery team in LA. I'd be absolutely livid if I were a Hawks fan.

Dallas should have more than Houston.

Whether or not you think Dallas is better than Houston has nothing to do with it. The Lakers are quite possibly going to be a bottom 10-12 team next season and they have the fifth most television appearances in the league. It's about star power and which teams attract more media attention. (Although Houston will be better than Dallas ;))

Well hey, maybe if the Raptors win their division again they'll get more nationally televised games across the States!

...I know the answer is 'wrong' or 'no', or 'just give up already it ain't happening', but this Raps fan still wants to dream it could, dammit!

Kobe is a big part of that.

You probably know this better than I do, but there will always be a ton of Lakers fans, Kobe or no Kobe, across the country. Even when Kobe retires and if there's no star player to fill his spot there will still be a ton of Lakers games nationally televised because there have always been a ton of Lakers fans.

This.

Orlando should get one too. Just gotta promote the future guys on each team like Noel, Parker, Oladipo, Marcus Smart etc.

Also, how in the **** does Memphis get only 1 game

Weren't you guys like 40-14 when Gasol returned last year rest of the way? Grizzlies may be an old school, grind it out, slow paced team.. but they aren't boring at all. I think they should have at least 5-10 more games on national TV.

Didn't even think of this. How lame. Man the schedule makers really blew their load for the top teams this year. No games of Jabari Parker+1 game for Grizzlies and only 2 for Wiggins? WTF man.

NYKnickFanatic
08-15-2014, 03:45 PM
Wow, ONE game for Memphis?

I know they are a small market team and aren't really flashy, but I enjoy watching them play. They play the game the correct way.

That's what I'm saying. They should at least have double digits.

They aren't going to entertain you, like the Clippers, but they play the game right.

Yea, Memphis got raped by the NBA. Not cool. Then again we all know they are a business who cares about nothing more than profit+ratings. Us basketball fans/purists like watching the Grizzlies, but the average casual fan obviously doesn't or the Grizzlies would be on national TV more.

Agreed. I'd rather watch them than a bunch of these other teams, but I know how it goes by now.

Yup. The grizzlies may not be one of the most exciting teams but for any real sports fan they are a decent watch. Contrasting styles in play is more of a draw to fans than seeing the same games over and over again with teams playing an identical style

yeah, but not as many without Kobe. if there's ever a post kobe, pre next superstar era, those numbers will gradually fall.

25 and under makes up a huge demographic of NBA fans. Kobe's been a part of 100% of all Laker championships won in the past 25 years. i understand your point but you're understating how much he's contributed to the Lakers standing worldwide. without Kobe Laker dominance is a distant quarter century old memory.
